Next stop India on Magnus Carlsen's Champions Chess Tour

About a month ago Champions Chess Tour was announced which would consist of $1.5 Million prize fund. The tour will have ten online tournaments comprising of various elite players all across the world. The first edition got over on Magnus' 30th birthday on 30th November and it was won by the reigning Fischer Random Official World Champion Wesley So. The next event starts on 26th December and it will be a Major event, the first of three in the Tour. It will have a total prize fund of $200000 and will feature twelve players. Top seed Nihal Sarin wins Super Juniors Cup

Super Juniors Cup day 5 was full of action and all drama one could expect. 14th world champion Vladimir Kramnik, Boris Gelfand, Anish Giri, Teimour Radjabov, Vidit Gujrathi, Surya Sekhar Ganguly and everyone else enjoyed the rich analysis and commentary for the exciting 23 games that was played on the final day. Nihal Sarin won the Super Juniors Cup by beating Abhimanyu Puranik 3.5-2.5 in the Semi-Finals and Arjun Erigaisi by 4.5-1.5 in the Finals. Super Juniors Cup day 4 had all the fireworks as one could expect. From having the World Class Anish Giri, Vidit Gujrathi, Adhiban and Harika on the Guest Commentary team along with 'The Wise-Captain' Srinath to first Quarter-Finals stretching to the Armageddon and the next Quarter-Final finishing in just four games. Both Raunak-Praggnanandhaa and Nihal-Iniyan was absolutely fantastic for all followers of the game. Nihal, Raunak, Arjun and Abhimanyu are the Semi-Finalists. Super Juniors Cup had an amazing day 3 as IM Aronyak Ghosh eliminated GM Gukesh and IM Aditya Mittal delivered a checkmate to GM Praggnanandhaa. Day 3 witnessed five whitewashes and two Armageddons. IM Rahul Srivasthav played his second Armageddon of the event, unlike the previous occasion, this time he was not victorious. GM Raunak Sadhwani and GM Iniyan P are the only two player to have two whitewash in the entire event. Quarter-Finals will start tomorrow from 3 p.m. IST with a best of six games per match. Super Juniors Cup: Isha impressive against Praggnanandhaa

Super Juniors Cup had an interesting day 2 as Vantika beat Aryan Chopra on the very first game of the day and Isha stretched Praggnanandhaa to his limit. Raunak, Iniyan and Praggnanandhaa took only three games to win their respective matches. 50% of the matches needed only three games to decide a victor today. GM Arjun Erigaisi, IM Arjun Kalyan, IM Rathanvel and IM Rahul Srivasthav advance to Round 2 along with the previously mentioned winners. IM Rahul Srivasthav won the only Armageddon of the day. Poland wins the first FIDE Online Olympiad for People with Disabilities

The first edition of FIDE Online Olympiad for People with Disabilities came to an end on 2nd December 2020 when Poland 1 beat Russia 3-1. Poland 1 lost the first match by 2.5-1.5 but they made a good comeback in their second encounter to clinch the Gold. Russia 1 had to settle for Silver and Ukraine 3 won the Bronze by beating Poland 3 by 2.5-1.5 and 3-1 respectively in the Finals. Four Indian team took part in the event but neither of them advanced to the Final stage. India 2 finished 13th with 9.0/14 while India 1 finished at 18th position with also 9.0/14. Photo: FIDE

Super Juniors Cup had an explosive start as two GMs already got eliminated on Day 1. IM Aronyak Ghosh gave himself a perfect birthday gift by eliminating GM Prithu Gupta and FM Srihari L R played some fantastic and practical chess to eliminate GM Harsha Bharathakoti from the tournament respectively. WFM Savitha Shri B managed to survive a completely lost position against the top seed of the event GM Nihal Sarin. The Super Juniors Cup is an initiative by the ChessBase India Foundation to bring the best juniors of Indian chess (born on and after 2000) together to fight it out for a big prize! The players are incredibly powerful in their own right, and have hence been given nicknames to better associate them with their personality! From tactical masters and queen sacrifices, to calculated positional maneuvers and crushing defeats, these champions have it all. 16 players will play on 6th of December, and the remaining 16 the next day on the 7th. Customs Duty for FIDE Online Olympiad Gold?

Team India won a historic Gold in the FIDE Online Olympiad on 30th August 2020. Little did anyone could have fathomed that Team India's quest for Gold would not end on the very same day. Receiving and sending the medals to all players was a challenge the Vice-Captain of the Indian team, GM Srinath Narayanan was up for. He had endured electricity, internet connectivity, team management and various other stuff so this one also he handled very nicely. Srinath kept mentioning that receiving the Gold medals as soon as possible and dispatching it to the players to make sure they receive them quickly was always the priority.
