There are 11 boards in total in the simul, out of which 10 boards will be played by the influencers and their teams and the remaining 1 board will be against the world (registered viewers). 1st Guwahati GM Open R7-8: C R G Krishna joins the three-way lead

IM C R G Krishna overcame a completely lost position and beat GM Deepan Chakkravarthy in the eighth round of 1st Guwahati International GM Open 2022. He joined IM Sayantan Das and GM Neuris Delgado Ramirez (PAR) in the lead. They drew their game against each other. IM Sidhant Mohapatra who beat GM Iniyan P in a brilliant manner in the seventh round, lost to GM Azer Mirzoev (AZE) in Round 8. GM Saptarshi Roy completed his hat-trick by beating IM Ortik Nigmatov in a picturesque finish. He is in the chase along with Azer, Pavel Ponkratov and Fawzy Adham. Vidit, Harikrishna and Praggnanandhaa to face Carlsen and world's best at Charity Cup

The second event of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour 2022 season will be Charity Cup. It is a fundraiser tournament for UNICEF. All players are encouraged to donate their earnings. The tournament is dedicated to the victims of the war in Ukraine. India will be represented heavily in this event by Vidit Gujrathi, Harikrishna Pentala and Praggnanandhaa. They will be joined by Magnus Carlsen, Ding Liren, Liem Quang Le, Hans Niemann, Eric Hansen along with the debutants - Richard Rapport, David Navara and Lei Tingjie and also the returning Gawain Jones, Jorden van Foreest, David Anton Guijarro and World Women's Champion Ju Wenjun. IM Sayantan Das had a great opportunity to win against IM Ratnakaran K in the sixth round of 1st Guwahati International GM Open 2022. The Indian Tal managed to make a great escape and salvage a draw from a completely lost endgame. Iniyan and Ponkratov drew their game. Neuris Delgado Ramirez (PAR) and Cristhian Camilo Rios (COL) defeated Azer Mirzoev (AZE) and Stany G A to join the four-way lead 5.5/6. Prraneeth Vuppala becomes the latest International Master of India

15-year-old Prraneeth Vuppala became the latest International Master of India on 15th March 2022. The Telangana boy scored his final IM-norm and maiden GM-norm at the same event First Saturday GM March 2022. He scored his first IM-norm at the age of 11 years back in October 2018. He crossed 2400 and secured his second IM-norm at Vergani Cup January 2022. His live rating is now 2430.4. He is two GM-norms and 69.6 Elo rating points away from becoming India's next GM. 1st Guwahati GM Open R4-5: The Wrath of Ratnakaran

IM Ratnakaran K and IM Sayantan Das emerged as the coleaders after Round 5 of 1st Guwahati International GM Open 2022. Ratnakaran won both games with a brilliant display of attack against GM Karthik Venkataraman and GM Fawzy Adham (EGY). Sayantan scored victories against Kumar Gaurav and IM Sai Agni Jeevitesh. It is well-known that both leaders have GM-level strength. Six players are trailing by a half point 4.5/5 each. After Russia invaded Ukraine in February it became clear that Moscow would not be able to host the Chess Olympiad 2022. FIDE was in a difficult situation to find a new host. The AICF sprung into action and put together a powerful bid within 10 days with the support of the Tamil Nadu Government. On 15th of March, FIDE awarded the Chess Olympiad 2022 to India. The mega event that will bring together 2000+ players from over 170 countries will be held on the East Coast Road near Chennai. 1st Guwahati GM Open R2-3: Anabil Goswami's magic number 1111

15-year-old Anabil Goswami scored the biggest upset in Round 2 of 1st Guwahati International GM Open 2022. The 1334-rated boy from Tripura defeated IM Ortik Nigmatov (UZB). Earlier he drew with IM Rahul Sangma in the first round. In the third round, Kumar Gaurav won against IM Arash Tahbaz (IRI). The 20-year-old persevered a tough position and waited for the right moment to strike against his opponent. 13-year-old Abhash Roimya Saikia drew with two GMs he faced on the same day - P Karthikeyan and Saptarshi Roy. Sanan Sjugirov wins Belgrade GM Tournament 2022, Nihal Sarin second

Nihal Sarin scored 5.5/9 to secure second place at Belgrade GM Tournament 2022. Sanan Sjugirov scored 6.5/9 and finished a full point ahead of the field to win the tournament. He won €5000 cash prize. Velimir Ivic and World Rapid 2021 champion, Nodirbek Abdusattorov scored 5.5/9 each. Since Nihal beat both of them, he was placed second. Ivic and Abdusattorov secured third and fourth place respectively. Nihal earned €3500 cash prize, Ivic got €2500. 1st Guwahati GM Open R1: 1336-rated Darsh Shetty upsets WGM Divya Deshmukh

13-year-old Darsh Shetty scored the biggest upset in the first round of 1st Guwahati International GM Open 2022. The 1336-rated boy beat the newly crowned National Women champion, WGM Divya Deshmukh. She is rated 965 points higher than him but that did not stop the boy to play the endgame beautifully, seizing his opportunity. 11-year-old Arshiya Das (1407) got herself very close to winning against IM Ortik Nigmatov (UZB, 2445). ONGC wins 31st PSPB Chess Inter-Unit Championships 2022

Some of the best chess players of our country had gathered at the Acres Club in Mumbai for the 31st PSPB Inter-Unit Chess Championships 2022. It had all gone down to the wire as team IOCL was going to meet team ONGC in the final round. A 2-2 draw was fine for the IOCL team, but ONGC had to win at all costs. There were some mouth watering encounters for the chess fans, the main one being Humpy (ONGC) vs Adhiban (IOCL). The match went right upto the wire. Neelash Saha and Priyanka Nutakki clinch MPL National Junior Open and Girls Chess Championships 2022

IM Neelash Saha (WB) won an exciting final round game against Aryan Arora to win MPL 50th National Junior Chess Championship 2022 Open. He finished a half point ahead 8.0/9, of the competition Utsab Chatterjee (WB) and FM Rohith Krishna S (TN) 7.5/9. They secured second and third place respectively according to tie-breaks. WGM Priyanka Nutakki (AP) drew her final round game against Sajitha B (TN) to score 7.5/9. Bangladesh Police and Bangladesh Biman scored an identical 3-1 victory over Bangladesh Navy and Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society in Round 4 to share the lead at Golden Jubilee of Independence Premier Division Chess League 2021-22. They are the only two teams at 8.0/8. IM Aditya Mittal (SCC) scored a crushing win over GM Sankalp Gupta (RBKP) who had a great difficulty finding place for his pieces. FM Harshad S (JBOWS) held GM Mitrabha Guha (BB) to a draw. Richard Rapport wins FIDE Belgrade GP 2022, now World no.7

Richard Rapport defeated Dmitry Andreikin in the second game of the Finals to win FIDE Belgrade GP 2022. He now leads the GP standings with 20 points and has very good chances to secure his place in the FIDE Candidates 2022. After a draw in the first game, the Hungary no.1 made an interesting exchange sacrifice which required some precise calculations by his opponent to secure a draw by perpetual. Unfortunately for the FIDE World Cup 2013 runner-up, he was unable to find it and the creative genius Rapport won the game.
