Sanjib Mali clinches 13th KIIT International Chess Festival 2022 Category 'C' Below 1600

Starting out as the 23rd seed of the tournament, Sanjib Mali (WB) scored an unbeaten 8.5/9. He finished a half point ahead of the field to win 13th KIIT International Chess Festival Category 'C' Below 1600. 13-year-old Gyana Sai Santhosh M (AP) scored sole 8/9 to finish second. Three players scored 7.5/9 each. KIIT's very own Majhi Fakir was placed third according to the tie-breaks. Total prize fund for Category C was ₹600000. Top three prizes were ₹60000, ₹40000 and ₹30000 along with a trophy each. A total of 418 players participated from all over the country, Singapore, Sri Lanka and USA in this four-day tournament organized by All Odisha Chess Association and KIIT University. Vinayak Singh Yadav impresses again

11-year-old, Vinayak Singh Yadav (1238) once again delivered a fantastic performance. He was placed fourth in Category B. In Category C, 13 players scored 7/10. He was placed ninth according to tie-breaks. He also gained 152.8 Elo rating points.

A total of 418 players participated from all over the country, Singapore, Sri Lanka and USA in this four-day tournament. The tournament was organized by All Odisha Chess Association and KIIT University from 26th to 29th May at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Karnataka. The time control for the event was 60 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
