Kvika Reykjavik Open R1: First round jitters
07/04/2022 - One of the strongest Open tournament, Reykjavik Open is back for the first time since 2019. Much like many other events, Covid-19 pandemic caused the event to go on a hiatus for the past two years. Five out of the top ten seeds are Indian players. Accelerated pairings ensured a tough challenge for the top seeds. Gukesh, Raunak had to work really hard to earn their first point. Adhiban, Praggnanandhaa and Abhijeet Gupta scored relatively easier victories. IM Tania Sachdev and IM Vardaan Nagpal were held to draws by Miguel Ruiz Buendia (ESP) and Thomas Held (SUI) respectively. Round 2 starts today at 9 a.m. local time (2:30 p.m. IST).
