Ethan - Mayank, Round 7

IM Mayank Chakraborty (ASM, 2465) did not anticipate his opponent, IM Ethan Vaz's (Goa, 2500) attacking propensity on the kingside. Thus, 25...Rab8? ran into 26.gxh5+- g5 27.Rg1 Kg8 28.Rxg5 Nd4 29.Nxd4 cxd4 30.Rg6 Rxf2+ 31.Ke1 Rbxb2 32.Rhg4 and it's over as Black cannot prevent all checkmate threats.

Arshiya - Shubhi, Round 11

The reigning National Sub-Junior Girls 2025 champion, WFM Arshiya Das (TRI, 2232) had a tough decision to make. Should White trade the queens in the above position? She played 31.Nf3 Qg4-+ WFM Shubhi Gupta (UP, 2259) seized her opportunity, went on to checkmate her opponent's king and win National Junior Girls Championship for the second time in her career.

A total of 208 including seven IMs in the Open and 123 players in the Girls tournament took part from various states across the country. The events were organized by Seraikela-Kharsawan District Chess Association at The Wave International in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand from 16th to 24th December 2025. The eleven-round Swiss league tournament had a time control of 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1
