Ayush Sharma wins a double at 2nd Maharathi Rapid and Blitz Rating Open 2025

Ayush's fourth and fifth tournament triumph of the year

FM Harshit Pawar was the sole leader 7.5/8, going into the last round. Nine players were trailing him by a half point at 7/8 each. Shaurya Chaudhary lost to GM-elect IM Ayush Sharma who became the champion in the Rapid Rating Open. Harshit lost to Arnav Agrawal who finished fourth. Harish Sharma defeated CM Nimay Agrawal to secure second place. The newly crowned 38th National Under-11 Open 2025 champion, won against Rishabh Pradhan to claim third place.

IM Ayush Sharma and Ashirwad Swain were the coleaders 7.5/8, going into the last round. Half a dozen players were trailing them by a half point at 7/8 each. Ashirwad lost to Ayush who became the champion in the Blitz Rating Open. Gopal Krishna Maheshwari defeated Alok Sinha to secure second place. CM Aarit Kapil won against Divitt Arora to finish third.

IM Ayush Sharma scored 8.5/9, finished a half point ahead of the rest and gained 13.8 Elo rating points

A total of 480 players including an IM took part from all over the country, one from England and USA. The two-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Maharathi Chess Academy at Silver Grand (Wedding Banquets) in New Delhi on 16th and 17th August 2025. The time control of the event was 15 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
