In the finals of the Online Olympiad 2020, team India faced Russia. After the first match ending in a 3-3 tie, the second match was balanced with a score of 1.5-1.5. The three games that were going on were Divya against Shuvalova, Nihal against Esipenko and Humpy against Goryachkina. Suddenly Nihal and Divya lost their games and India had lost its match to Russia 3.5-1.5. Subsequently Humpy, who had lost precious seconds in her game due to disconnection, also lost her game and we succumbed to a 4.5-1.5 defeat. What exactly happened here? Was it an internet disconnection or something else? We bring you the entire story.

49,000 watch as India beats Poland, sets up finals with Russia

29th of August 2020 is celebrated as the National Sports Day in India. On this day, the Indian team played out of their skins to beat Poland and reach the finals of the FIDE Online Olympiad 2020. It was not a straightforward victory for India as we lost the first match with a score of 4-2. However, in the second match we made a resounding comeback with 4.5-1.5 The match went into an Armageddon and it was the super-woman of Indian chess Koneru Humpy who came to the fore and delivered! India have not just qualified to the finals, they have also assured themselves of a silver medal. Now between the Indian team and the Gold medal lies the formidable Russia. Armenia withdraws as India moves into Semi-finals of Online Olympiad 2020; will face Poland

Team India advanced to the semi-finals of the FIDE Online Olympiad 2020 beating Armenia. But the way the match ended was quite unfortunate. India won the first match against Armenia with a score of 3.5-2.5. Pairings for the second match were made. It was at this point that Arrmenia made an appeal first to the arbiters, then to the appeals committee. Their appeal was turned down. At this point the Armenian team decided to withdraw from the tournament. India was given a win and we advance to the semi-finals. What exactly happened. He even taught chess to World Strongest Man 2018 - Hafþór J Björnsson aka 'The Mountain' of Game of Thrones. Few days before his impressive performance at Magnus Carlsen Chess Tour Finals, Nakamura crossed 500K followers on twitch which means his reach to the general audience through the sport chess definitely increased by that much. With that rapidly gaining momentum, few hours ago TSM tweeted about their signing with Nakamura. This is only going to be good for chess in every aspect one can fathom.
