The preposterously fast ChessBase search booster

Radjabov reigns supreme in Champions Chess Tour Airthings Masters

Radjabov defeated Aronian 2-1 in the second set of the Finals of Champions Chess Tour Airthings Masters. Aronian got his chance in the first game of the day but he could not capitalize on his opportunity and it ended up in a draw. Radjabov won the second game with a fantastic play in the endgame and drew the third to win the event and qualify to the Finals of the Tour which the world champion Carlsen earlier via tweet that it will take place in San Francisco in September this year. Radjabov-Aronian Finals witnessed some solid games. There were no simple tactical errors or blunders made on the first day of the Finals of Champions Chess Tour Airthings Masters. These two played against each other in the Prelims for the first time since 2017 in any kind of serious tournament. Aronian must win the second set today to force tie-breaks. Airthings Masters winner will be decided tonight as the Finals continue on Sunday 3rd January from 7:30 p.m. IST. The Christmas-New Year Solving contest, where we posed our readers with six unconventional and engine-defying problems to solve, came to a close on the 31st of December. The event became a grand success bringing in some very high-class competition. We received around 65 emails in all, a surprising majority of which were accompanied by extremely well-written and well-explained solutions. Of course, too many perfect 50-out-of-50 scorers left us in a quandary. The solvers posed us a seventh problem, as it were: whom to choose? whom to leave? But after some discussion and pondering, we think we too have found the best solution!

Airthings Masters SF Day 2: Radjabov and Aronian rush to the Finals

Radjabov once again completely dominated Dubov as he beat him twice consecutively to advance to the Finals of Champions Chess Tour. Aronian beat Vachier-Lagrave in the third game after making two draws to secure his place in the Finals. ChessBase India's year 2020 in rewind

What was the work done by the entire ChessBase India team in 2020? 750 articles were published on the website, 924 videos created on the YouTube channel, over 150 million views, 25 online tournaments with close to Rs.16,00,000 disbursed as prize money, over 32 lakh rupees raised for charity and hosting several events with an aim to empower chess professionals and enthusiasts. Over the board tournaments hardly happened during the year, however, each and every member of the ChessBase India team worked throughout 2020 to power chess in the country and the world! Airthings Masters SF Day 1: Radjabov and Aronian win the first set

Radjabov halted Dubov's fantastic momentum of the previous day as he beat him 3-1 in the first set of Champions Chess Tour Airthings Masters Semi-Finals. In all four games Dubov did not get any good opportunity against the 2019 FIDE World Cup winner. Aronian struck first against Vachier-Lagrave and then he made two draws after missing a winning chance in the second game. The French man could not salvage a draw in the fourth game after the Armenian blundered in the endgame. Airthings Masters QF Day 2: Dubov eliminates Carlsen

Dubov and Aronian secured their Semi-Final spots with emphatic victories over the world champion Carlsen and Speed King Nakamura respectively in the Quarter-Finals of Champions Chess Tour Airthings Masters. Dubov caused the biggest upset of the event as he beat Carlsen twice on the same day in three games. Aronian also played fantastic and eliminated Nakamura by beating him in consecutive games. Skilling Open winner So and newly crowned Russian champion Nepomniachtchi had unfortunate exits from the event as both of them drew their respective Armageddon games but got eliminated due to technicality. Breaking: Leon Mendonca becomes India's 67th GM

In a year where chess tournaments have been almost non-existent, India managed to get two GMs! G. Akash was India's 66th grandmaster and now it's Leon Mendonca who has achieved the coveted title on 30th December 2020 to become India's 67th GM. Leon's story is one of grit, determination and persistence. Being locked out in Europe and away from his family for 9 months, Leon made the best possible use of the situation, playing 16 tournaments, pumping up his Elo by 140 points and achieving all three GM norms in under three months. Aronian and Vachier-Lagrave won the first set of the Quarter-Finals against Nakamura and So respectively in Champions Chess Tour Airthings Masters. Harikrishna, Grischuk, Giri and Anton get eliminated from Champions Chess Tour Airthings Masters as they could not finish in the top eight of the Preliminary Stage. Carlsen finished the top of the table with 6.5/11 followed by So and Nakamura also finishing with the same score. Carlsen will face Dubov, Radjabov against Nepomniachtchi, Nakamura vs Aronian and Vachier-Lagrave will go against So in the Quarter-Finals which starts tonight Tuesday 29th December from 7:30 p.m. IST. Airthings Masters Day 2: Carlsen joins the six-pack lead

Six players share the lead at the end of day 2 of Champions Chess Tour Airthings Masters. Dubov, Nakamura, Aronian, Carlsen, Radjabov and So are in the lead with 4.5/8 each respectively. Harikrishna started the day with a loss against Giri then he drew with Grischuk and Nakamura. In the final round of the day, Harikrishna had a good chance to push for a win against Nepomniachtchi but he settled for a draw. Carlsen scored his first victory of the event over Dubov and then drew the remaining three games. Round 9 continues tonight Monday 28th December from 7:30 p.m. IST.
