Mihail Nikitenko conquers CFSL Golden Jubilee Open 2022, Thej Kumar second

GM Mihail Nikitenko scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 and finished two points ahead of the field to win CFSL Golden Jubilee Open 2022. GM Thej Kumar M S scored sole 6.5/9 to secure second place. Four players scored 6/9 including Sri Lanka no.2 FM Ranindu Dilshan Liyanage. Veteran GM Alexei Barsov (UZB) secured third place due to better tie-breaks. The total cash prize fund of the tournament was LKR 3,650,000 (US$ 10000). Julius Baer Challenger Championship: Praggnanandhaa takes 2-0 lead

Praggnanandhaa made a short work of Pranav Venkatesh in the second match at Julius Baer Challenger Championship. The Asian Continental 2022 champion won both games convincingly. In the first game, Pranav made an incorrect decision at a critical juncture. He was unable to make the most out of the white pieces in the second game as Praggnanandhaa equalized easily out of the opening. Pranav now must win the next two Blitz matches to keep his chances. Aakash Sharadchandra Dalvi is the winnner of SAS Ventures 2nd Rapid Rating Open 2022

Aakash Sharadchandra Dalvi and the top seed of the tournament, IM Ravi Teja S scored an unbeaten 8/9. The sixth round battle between them ended in a draw. Aakash won the SAS Ventures 2nd Rapid Rating Open 2022 on tie-breaks and Ravi was placed second. Four players scored 7.5/9. They are - IM Ratnakaran K, IM Nitin S, Lakshith B Salian and Advait Ratnakar Vibhute. Out of them Ratnakaran was adjudged third.The total cash prize fund of the tournament was ₹500000 and 176 prizes were up for grabs. Saidakbar Saydaliev clinches Benidorm Open 2022, Ajay Karthikeyan third

IM Saidakbar Saydaliev and IM Bobir Sattarov, both Uzbeks scored 7.5/9 each. Saidakbar won the Benidorm Open A according to tie-breaks, Bobir was placed second. IM Ajay Karthikeyan S defeated IM Ernesto J Fernandez Guillen (CUB) in the final round to finish third 6.5/9, edging past two more players who finished with the same score. The top three prizes in Group A were €5000, €3000 and €1200 along with a trophy each. 14-year-old Derin Goktepe (USA) won the Group B (<2000) with a perfect score 9/9. 17-year-old Simhadri Sai Hrushikesh scored sole 7.5/9 to finish second. Julius Baer Challenger Championship: Praggnanandhaa wins Match 1

Praggnanandhaa won the first match against Pranav Venkatesh at Julius Baer Challenger Championship. The former won the first match convincingly with a score of 2.5-0.5. The Asian Continental champion won the first game, Pranav managed to draw the second. He would have been able to draw the third game too. However, a draw would have resulted in a match loss anyway, so he made a desperate attempt to win the game for which he paid a heavy price by losing the game again. SAIF Sporting Club ends Bangladesh Police's dominant run at Bangladesh Premier League 2022

SAIF Sporting Club ended Bangladesh Police's dominant run at Bangabandhu Premier Division Chess League 2022. Bangladesh Police has been winning the Bangladesh Premier League for the past three editions and remained unbeaten while doing so since 2019. SSC started their event by beating the defending champion Bangladesh Police convincingly 3.5-0.5 in the second round. SAIF SC scored an unbeaten 18/20 to become clear champion. Bangladesh Police and debutant in the Premier Division, Palli Sanchoy Bank scored 16/20 and 15/20 to secure second and third place respectively. Vigneshwaran S wins 1st Prime Chess Academy Rapid Rating Open 2022

As many as ten players finished the tournament with a score of 7/8. Vigneshwaran S clinched 1st Prime Chess Academy Rapid Rating Open 2022 due to better tie-breaks. IM Ramnathan Balasubramaniam and 12-year-old Vignesh Kannan P secured second and third place. Vigneshwaran drew with the runner-up and defeated the second runner-up in round 7 and 6 respectively. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹15000, ₹13000 and ₹12000 along with a trophy each. A total of 367 players participated in this one-day event held at Vriksha Global School on 20th November 2022. Pankaj Verma becomes Himachal Pradesh State Senior Champion for the fourth time

Pankaj Verma, Suryansh Verma and Jatin Sharma scored 7/8 each. Pankaj won the tournament due to better tie-breaks. Suryansh and Jatin were placed second and third respectively. This was the first time, Himachal Pradesh State Senior Championship became a FIDE Rated event. Both Pankaj and Suryansh remained undefeated. Pankaj drew with the eventual runner-up in the penultimate round and defeated the second runner-up, in the fourth round. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹100000. Tabatabaei wins 3rd Elllobregat Open in Playoffs, Aditya Mittal third

Singapore no.1 GM Jingyao Tin and India's latest GM Aditya Mittal both drew their final round games against GM Eltaj Safarli (AZE) and GM Rasmus Svane (GER) respectively. Iran no.2 GM M Amin Tabatabaei defeated Germany no.2 GM Matthias Bluebabum. Thus, Jingyao, Tabatabaei and Aditya ended up having 7/9 each and Playoff was enforced. Tabatabaei defeated Mittal 1.5-0.5 first and then Jingyao 2-0 in the Finals to win 3rd Elllobregat Open 2022. Jingyao finished second and Aditya was placed third. They won €10000, €5000 and €2000 cash each respectively. IM Aditya S Samant secured his second GM-norm. 12-year-old Arush Chitre won the Group B with an unbeaten 7.5/9, gained a whopping 254.8 Elo rating points and finished a full point ahead. Both GM Laxman R R and Daksh Goyal scored 8/9. However, Laxman won Dr. Ajitkumar Singh Kasliwal and Suneeta Singh Memorial Rapid Rating Open 2022 due to better tie-breaks. Daksh had to settle for the second place. Laxman had already defeated Daksh in the fifth round. Indrajeet Mahindrakar and Madhya Pradesh's very own Prakhar Bajaj scored 7.5/9. They were adjudged third and fourth respectively. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. India finishes third at 4th SCO Online Team Tournament 2022

Starting out as the fifth seed, India scored 12/18 along with three other teams. Iran won the 4th Shanghai Cooperation Organization International Online Team Tournament scoring 13/18. China also scored the same, however they were placed second on tie-breaks. India finished third according to tie-breaks. Azerbaijan, China Shanghai and Belarus were placed fourth to sixth. The total prize fund of the tournament was CNY 100000 (approx. ₹1181219). The top three prizes were CNY25000, 15000 and 10000. India comprising of GM Karthikeyan Murali and GM Iniyan P, won approx. ₹118122. 12-year-old Kushagra Jain scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win 1st TMCA Rating Open 2022. Three players including the top seed, IM Vikramaditya Kulkarni scored 7.5/9 each. Vikramaditya, and Viresh Sharnarthi were placed second and third respectively according to tie-breaks. 12-year-old Kalyani Sirin is the highest finisher among female participants. She finished fourth overall with a score of 7.5/9 and won the first prize in Rating Category 1301-1600. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹250000. Jubin Jimmy becomes the latest International Master of India

16-year-old FM Jubin Jimmy became the latest International Master of India on 1st December 2022. The Keralite scored his final IM-norm Vezerkepzo GM 12 November 2022, three months after he scored his second IM-norm at 28th Abu Dhabi Masters 2022 in August. In the sixth round of Six Days at Budapest Round Robin tournament, Jubin defeated GM Adam Horvath at the beginning of this month to cross 2400 in the live ratings. His current live rating is now 2411.8. GM Diptayan Ghosh scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 3rd Dombivli Kalyan Rapid Rating Open 2022. Last year also Diptayan won the same event with an exact same score and once again he finished a half point ahead of the field. Seven players scored 8/9 each. Ankur Mahesh Gokhale and Arpan Das were adjudged second and third respectively according to tie-breaks. The total cash prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000 and 97 trophies.
