Nilsu Pattnayak perfect at 4th Ganjam District Rating Open 2025

Nilsu Pattnayak won 4th Ganjam District Rating Open 2025 with a perfect score 9/9. He won the tournament with a round to spare and finished a whopping 1.5 points ahead of the rest. 10-year-old Manish Mishra scored 7.5/9 to secure second place. Four players - Fakir Majhi, Jagdish Barik, Meher Bhabanee Prasad and Rabindra Kumar Ojha scored 7/9 each. They secured third to sixth place respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹25000, ₹20000 and ₹10000 along with a trophy each. The five-day nine round  Rating Open tournament  was organized by Ganjam District Chess Association at Takshashila Residential School  in Ganjam, Odisha from 21st to 25th May 2025. Nilsu clinches the tournament with a round to spare, finishes with a 100% score

The top seed of the tournament, Nilsu Pattnayak became champion when he defeated Aditya Ranjan Das. He was the only player at 8/8. Five players were 1.5 points behind him - Swapnil Priyadarshi, Fakir Majhi, Jagdish Barik, Shankhadeep Maity and Manish Mishra. The last round result was immaterial towards his first place. However, Nilsu still went for maximum, defeated Shankhadeep to become champion with a perfect score 9/9. 10-year-old Manish won against Swapnil to secure second place. Jagdish drew with Fakir and the latter finished third. Apart from Nilsu, Manish also delivered an impressive performance.

A total of 143 players took part from all over the country. The five-day nine round Rating Open tournament was organized by Ganjam District Chess Association at Takshashila Residential School in Ganjam, Odisha from 21st to 25th May 2025. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
