Evan Antonio Telles and Shreyanshi Jain dominate 38th National Under-7 Open and Girls Championship 2025

Evan Antonio Telles (Goa) scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 38th National Under-7 Open Championship 2025. He finished a full point ahead of the rest. Duvesh Milan P (PUD), Ansh Dadhich (MAH) and Vivaan Vardhan Sahu (KAR) scored 7.5/9 each to finish second, third and fourth respectively according to tie-breaks. In the Girls event, Shreyanshi Jain (RAJ) scored a perfect 9/9 to become the champion. She finished a staggering 1.5 points ahead of the rest. Anika K (TN) scored sole 7.5/9 to secure second place. Seven players scored 7/9. Among them, the top seed, Saiaastha Singh (WB) was placed third as she had the best tie-break score. The total prize fund combining Open and Girls section was ₹500000. Evan and Shreyanshi are miles ahead

The six podium places were claimed by six different states and union territories. Open - Goa, Puducherry and Maharashtra, Girls - Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. In the Open event, Evan Antonio Telles (Goa) was the sole leader 7.5/8, heading into the final round. Vaibhav Vishnu (BIH) and Vivaan Vardhan Sahu (KAR) were trailing by a half point. Evan defeated Vishnu to become a clear champion. Duvesh Milan P (PUD) and Ansh Dadhich (MAH) won against Purvansh Shah (KAR) and Aashish S (AP) respectively to finish at second and third place respectively.

In the Girls event, Shreyanshi Jain (RAJ) made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row. A draw in the final round was enough for her to become a clear champion. Still she went for the maximum and defeated Yaazhisai B (TN) to become the champion with a 100% score. Anika K (TN) won against Aaditri Majumdar (WB) to secure second place. Saiaastha Singh (WB) scored a victory over Varniga M (TN) to finish third for the second consecutive year.

Evan Antono Telles scored an unbeaten 8.5/9, finished a full point ahead of the competition and gained 65.2 Elo rating points

Shreyanshi Jain scored a perfect 9/9, finished 1.5 points ahead of others and gained 49.2 Elo rating points

Anish Sarkar scored 7/9, finished tenth at the age of 4 years 4 months and a few days in his debut National Championship

A total of 213 players in the Open and 125 in the Girls took part from 27 states and union territories across the country in this five-day nine round Swiss-league Under-7 Rating tournament which was organized by All Odisha Chess Association at KT Global School in Khordha, Odisha from 1st to 5th June 2025. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
