World Youth U16 Olympiad 2022 R5: Iran draws with India

India drew with Iran 2-2 in the fifth round of FIDE World Youth Under-16 Olympiad 2022. GM Pranav V made a big save against IM Bardiya Daneshvar. IM Pranesh M scored a crushing victory over FM Reza Mahdavi. FM Harshad S lost and Tanisha S Boramanikar drew her game. India will face Mongolia in the sixth round. Mongolia has four members only, so they will have to play with the same order. Mrittika Mallick and Rohit S will be replacing Harshad and Tanisha. Turkiye-Red has gained sole lead with a perfect 10/10. They are followed by Kazakhstan and Cuba at 8/10 each. India is currently tied at fourth place with seven teams at 7/10 each. Pranesh scores a crushing win

IM Pranesh M's win turned out to be crucial one in securing a draw against Iran. Turkiye-Red scored a dominating victory over Kazakhstan 3.5-0.5 to emerge as sole leader.

Iran - India: 2-2

GM Pranav Venkatesh (2530) survived a lost position against IM Bardiya Daneshvar (2515). He managed to escape with a draw. IM Pranesh M (2442) scored the sole win for the team. FM Harshad S (2228) lost his game. Tanisha S Boramanikar (1808) drew with Setayesh Karimi (1925).

Pranesh launched a devastating attack on the kingside. There is no way for Black to save the game after 19.g6. White's attack was so fast that Black was unable to do anything on the queenside.
