Aditya misses a great opportunity against Jobava
Leon - Eljanov
14...f6 15.Nxe4 dxe4 16.Ra1 Qxa1? was an unforced error. GM Leon Luke Mendonca (2603) probably did not like 16...Qxb2 17.Nc4 Qb5 18.Bxd6 exd3 19.Bxe7 Qxc4. Thus, he quite possibly opted for the queen sacrifice. After a five and half hour long battle, GM Pavel Eljanov's (UKR, 2675) pawns went through and he won the game.
Jobava - Aditya
GM Baadur Jobava (GEO, 2605) made a big mistake when he played 24.Na2? allowing Bxa3! GM Aditya S Samant (2499) correctly spotted and played it 25.bxa3 Rxc2 26.Nc1 Rec8 27.Rfe1 Nd7? Black had to play Qd7 to maintain his advantage. Instead, Nd7 turned things in White's favor 28.d4 e4?? was the final mistake 29.Qxe4+- now White has a decisive advantage.
IM Carissa Yip (USA, 2453) got the better of GM Mukhiddin Madminov (UZB, 2553).
Gavrilescu - Miaoyi
GM David Gavrilescu (ROU, 2543) played 42.Nxg7. Does it work? IM Miaoyi Lu (CHN, 2452) accepted it and the game eventually ended in a draw.
When a strong GM FST Yannick Gozzoli (FRA) is the organizer, you can expect to learn a thing or two. One of the many perks of playing a strong tournament is, you get to learn from the very best. Yannick is seen explaining Sarah Bouguern (FRA) how she could have won the rook endgame by forming a Lucena position and build a bridge. The game ended in a draw, however, the lesson will definitely make her stronger in the future tournaments.
