Top three seeds at the event are Fabiano Caruana, Wesley So and Hikaru Nakamura. The Indian challenge is led by Vidit Gujrathi. Today, India's first international Arbiter Venkatachalam Kameswaran celebrates his 73rd Birthday! The genial man from Chennai has served chess for more than three decades in various forms — arbiter, player, organizer, and a journalist. We bring you a selection from his legendary collection.

Isle of Man 07: Harika beats Hou Yifan!

This was the 23rd encounter between them and it was the first time that the Indian emerged victorious! Yes, Harika Dronavalli was able to beat the reigning World Champion Hou Yifan at the seventh round of the Isle of Man International 2016. In another positive result for Indians, 18-year-old S.L.Narayanan crushed his Armenian opponent Sergei Movsesian in just 27 moves! Vidit Gujrathi lost on the top board against Pavel Eljanov when he overstretched in what was an equal position. Check out the illustrated report.

Isle of Man 04-06: Indians going strong

In our last report from the Isle of Man we brought to you how Vidit Gujrathi won his third round game against Benjamin Bok and broke into top 50 players in the world. Since then three rounds have passed by and the tournament keeps getting all the more interesting. Vidit is leading the Indian charge at the top, however, there are many other players who are doing really well. Most notably Harika, S.L.Narayanan and Hemant Sharma. Tal Memorial 07: And the game 'petered' out to a draw

There were five draws today in Moscow after we had been spoiled with hard-fought, violent rounds. Several of the games saw little to no chances for either side to win, or even create real threats. Vishy Anand had an interesting game and had the best chance to score a point in the whole round. But even that was not easy. Nepomniachtchi keeps his half point lead over Giri, who had amazing news yesterday! On the rest day his son Daniel was born! Congratulations to him and Sopiko. We have an illustrated list-report. FI Praful Zaveri is working hard to popularize the game of chess in the city of Mumbai. He made his way to Tsaghkadzor in Armenia to attend the international conference of Chess in Schools. In a large open as strong as the Isle of Man, every round is a feast, every game a meal, with no shortage of exciting positions and exotic play. Round three saw many of the top players already facing stiff grandmaster competition with few of the lopsided pairings from the first two days. Vidit Gujrathi won his third round at the Isle of Man International against Benjamin Bok. With this win his live rating propelled to 2693 and he now enters the top 50 players in the world. We thought this would be a nice time to acquaint our readers with an interview that Sagar Shah did with Vidit exactly three years ago. The boy from Nashik had just won the bronze medal at the World Juniors 2013 in Turkey and did so in style by scoring 3.5 points in the last four rounds. The tournament is really a strong one as 48 grandmasters led by Fabiano Caruana, Hikaru Nakamura and Wesley So take part in this event. The Indian challenge is led by Vidit Gujrathi. The first round witnessed a few upsets as Harsha Bharathakoti drew his game with solid play against Peter Leko, while Parnali Dharia was able to hold Mihail Marin.
