Vidit Gujrathi won his third round at the Isle of Man International against Benjamin Bok. With this win his live rating propelled to 2693 and he now enters the top 50 players in the world. We thought this would be a nice time to acquaint our readers with an interview that Sagar Shah did with Vidit exactly three years ago. The boy from Nashik had just won the bronze medal at the World Juniors 2013 in Turkey and did so in style by scoring 3.5 points in the last four rounds. This light hearted interview will surely leave a deep impact on you about Vidit's personality.

Out of the 133 participants at the Chess.com Isle of Man international, 26 are Indians! The tournament is really a strong one as 48 grandmasters led by Fabiano Caruana, Hikaru Nakamura and Wesley So take part in this event. The Indian challenge is led by Vidit Gujrathi. The first round witnessed a few upsets as Harsha Bharathakoti drew his game with solid play against Peter Leko, while Parnali Dharia was able to hold Mihail Marin. The Women's World Championship 2017, scheduled to take place in Iran, has been mired in controversy. It is a knock-out tournament of 64 players in order to decide the new World Champion. Hou Yifan has already publicly announced her disdain for the format and decided to not take part. However, the real controversy lies in the fact that all the 64 players will have to compulsorily cover their hair while playing. Tal Memorial 04: Kramnik squashes Anand!

Tal Memorial 03: Anand and Li Chao split the point in a Nimzo

A topical Nimzo-Indian led to a position in which Anand was certainly not worse at any point. He had an extra pawn, but Li Chao got a bit of an initiative. Anand decided to diffuse it by giving it back and reaching a very equal endgame in which White was more or less forced to repeat moves. Tal Memorial 02: Anand trounces Mamedyarov's speculative sacrifice

Vishy Anand joined the lead at the 2016 Tal Memorial in a stylish manner. Anand fended off a sacrificial attack by Mamedyarov to emerge up a piece in a winning endgame, despite Black's three passed pawns as compensation. Harikrishna enters World top 10

On 26th of September Harikrishna beat Ivan Cheparinov in the first round of the Spanish Team Championships. With this victory he gained four Elo points. This took his live rating to 2765.8. This was good enough to surpass Ding Liren and enter the top ten players in the world! The live rating lists are dynamic and change with the daily result. However, this does not take away from the fact that as on 27th of September we have two Indians in the top ten chess players of the world! Kudos to Harikrishna for his consistent performances.
