MP State Junior Chess Championship 2026: Battle for the State Title in Bhopal
The Madhya Pradesh State Junior Boys & Girls FIDE Rating Championship 2026 will be held from August 15th to 18th, 2026, at Bhopal. Jointly organized by the Khelo Chess India Club, the Bhopal District Chess Association, and ChessBase India. Beyond the competitive exposure, the tournament carries massive stakes: it serves as the official selection tournament to select 4 players in each category to represent Madhya Pradesh in the Junior National Championship later this year.
The Road to the Nationals
The top four players from the Open (Boys) category and the top four players from the Girls category will officially qualify to represent Madhya Pradesh at the upcoming National Junior Chess Championship 2026. The national event is scheduled to take place in West Bengal from October 27th to November 4th, 2026.
Prize Fund
A total prize fund of ₹1,00,000 is on offer, distributed across both categories alongside official trophies for the top finishers. In accordance with standard regulations, female players remain fully eligible to claim prizes in the Open category based on their overall standings.
To further support the qualifying players, the organizing committee will provide a Travel and Daily Allowance of ₹2,000 to each of the eight selected players before they depart for the Nationals.
Eligibility
Age Requirement: Participants must be born on or after January 1, 2007. A valid date of birth certificate registered within one year of birth from a competent local authority (Panchayat, Municipality, or Corporation) is mandatory. School certificates will not be accepted as valid age proof.
Mandatory Affiliations: All players must hold a valid AICF Registration for the 2026-27 cycle and possess a valid FIDE ID before the start of the first round.

Entry Fee: Open (Boys): ₹1,000 | Girls: ₹500.
Key Deadlines: The final date to submit entries at the regular rate is August 5, 2026. Late entries will be accommodated until August 13, 2026, subject to an additional late fee of ₹500.
