Saurabh Choubey wins 3rd Rangpur Rating Open 2023

Saurabh Choubey scored an unbeaten 5.5/6 to win 3rd Rangpur Rating Open 2023. He finished a half point ahead of the competition. CM Sajid Sakline Mostafa (BAN) and Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan (BAN) made 5/6 each. They were placed second and third respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was Tk 75000. The top three prizes were Tk 13000, 10000 and 8000 each respectively. The former Madhya Pradesh State Under-25 and Rapid champion, Saurabh has won quite a few Rapid and Blitz events. However, this is his first Classical Rating tournament triumph. Saurabh's first Classical rating open triumph

Saurabh Choubey found a lot of success at various rating tournaments in Bangladesh. He won a Blitz rating tournament in January 2020, Runner-up at a Below 2100 Rapid Rating in January 2022, and now he has won a Classical rating tournament where he also increased his Elo rating by 35 points. Three more Indians took part in this event. Shresth Mahapatra and Sneha Halder scored 4.5/6 each. They gained 170.4 and 61.6 Elo rating points respectively. Sneha increased her rating by 308 points in the month of March 2023.

A total of 50 players took part in this two-day six-round Swiss league Rating tournament which was organized by Rangpur District Sports Association on 17th and 18th March 2023 at Sheikh Russel Indoor Stadium in Rangpur, Bangladesh. The time control for the event was 60 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
