Mithilesh Ranjithkumar clinches 31st Abu Dhabi Chess Festival Under-16 Juniors Rating 2025

Mithilesh Ranjithkumar scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win 31st Abu Dhabi Chess Festival Under-16 Juniors Rating 2025. He finished a half point ahead of the competition Four players - Mahammad Baghirov (AZE), Tigran Agh. Petrosyan (ARM), Alkey Amangeldinov (KAZ) and Arnav Gupta scored 7.5/9 each. They secured second to fifth place respectively according to tie-breaks. Mithilesh drew with the eventual runner-up Baghirov and defeated the second runner-up, Petrosyan. Total prize fund was US$ 13050. The top three prizes were $2000, $1500 and $1200 along with a trophy each. Hari Vardan Satheeskumar, Vishruth B and Shitiz Prasad scored 7/9 each to secure sixth, seventh and eighth place respectively. Five Indians in top ten, Mithilesh's third tournament triumph of the year

12-year-old Mithilesh Ranjithkumar was the sole leader 7.5/8, heading into the last round. Mahammad Baghirov (AZE) was the sole pursuer at 7/8. Mithilesh drew against Baghirov to become a clear champion, Baghirov finished second. Theephigaa K P lost to Tigran Agh. Petrosyan (ARM) who claimed third place.
