Mayank perfect at 31st Abu Dhabi Chess Festival Academy Blitz 2025, Imran second and Goutham third
IM Mayank Chakraborty scored a perfect 9/9 to win 31st Abu Dhabi Chess Festival Academy (Under-18) Blitz 2025. He finished a full point ahead of the rest. IM Md. Imran, IM Goutham Krishna H and IM Henry Edward Tudor (ROU) scored 8/9 each. They secured second to fourth place respectively according to tie-breaks. Total prize fund was US$ 4250. The top three prizes were $500, $400 and $300 along with a trophy each. IM Akshay Borgaonkar, FM Ajay Santhosh Parvathareddy and IM Shahil Dey scored 7/9 each. Six Indians in top ten, Mayank's second tournament triumph of the year
IM Mayank Chakraborty made a blazing start by winning eight games in-a-row. He had a full point lead heading into the final round. So a draw was enough for him to become a clear champion, still he went for the maximum against the top seed, GM Sina Movahed (IRI) to become the winner with a perfect score 9/9. IM Md. Imran defeated FM Ajay Santhosh Parvathareddy to secure second place. IM Goutham Krishna H won against Sharon Rafael (ZAM) to finish third.

A total of 280 players including a GM and eight IMs took part from 25 countries across the world. The one-day nine-round Blitz Rating tournament was organized by Abu Dhabi Chess Club and Mind Games at Radisson Blu Abu Dhabi Corniche Hotel in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on 22nd July 2025. The time control was 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment.
