Harikrishnan A Ra and Muthaiah Al win National Club Chess Championships 2021 in Maldives

IM Harikrishnan A Ra and IM Muthaiah Al were the only two Indians to take part in National Club Chess Championship 2021 held in the Maldives. Both of them played for the same team Club Chess Mates and also scored the same 8.0/8 each. The winner scored 18.0/18 to secure first place, and they won MVR 25000 (approx. ₹121000). Runner-up Castle Chess Club and Academy scored 15.0/18 and won MVR 10000. Stone Wall secured third position, and they received MVR 5000. All prize winners received a medal each. The tournament was organized by Hizza Ibrahim from 18th to 27th December 2021 at Chess Arcade at Hulhumalé island in Malé, Maldives. A total of 45 players including two IMs took part across nine teams in this nine-round Round Robin Classical Rating tournament which had a time control of 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
