Harika - Nandhidhaa

Position after 27.Rdh1

WGM Nandhidhaa P V (2343) needed to create an escape route for the king immediately 27...f5. Instead, she tried to hold on to her extra knight 27...Ng6?? 28.f5+- Bd6 29.Be4! and it became just a matter of time before GM Harika Dronavalli (2483) won the game. This win earned her a place in the third round where she will face IM Stavroula Tsolakidou (GRE).

Anna Ushenina - Vantika: 1-0

IM Vantika Agrawal (2377) did not push her queenside pawns as fast as she could, allowing her opponent, GM Anna Ushenina (UKR, 2413) to run her own on the kingside.

Position after 33.Rxh6

It was a pawn race. So Black needed to play 33...a5 right away. Bringing her king to stop the h-pawn was not possible. 33...Bd4?? 34.h4 and White kept pushing her h-pawn which was the decisive factor in her earning the full point. Vantika will have to play tie-breaks against the 14th Women's World Champion.

Klaudia - Priyanka: 0.5-0.5

WIM Priyanka K (2090) played a solid draw against IM Klaudia Kulon (POL, 2406). They will play tie-breaks.
