It’s been a week since the chess world lost one of its brightest lights. The news of GM Daniel Naroditsky’s passing was shared on 20th October 2025 by Charlotte Chess Center, leaving everyone in deep shock and sorrow. Some knew him as a commentator, some as a player, some as a teacher, but to everyone, he was an inspiration. His detailed insights mixed with humour drew players in from all corners of the world. Daniel was loved by millions! Despite his immense talent, he always stayed humble, curious, and eager to learn from anyone! This article is a tribute to this great soul! Nubairshah Shaikh wins The Grandeur 8.0 Rapid Rating Open 2025

IM Mohammad Nubairshah Shaikh, FM Jval Saurin Patel, CM Naitik R Mehta, Kartavya Anadkat and Jihan Tejas Shah scored 8/9 each at The Grandeur 8.0 Rapid Rating Open 2025. Nubairshah won the tournament on tie-breaks. The remaining four were placed second to fifth respectively. Nubairshah defeated the eventual runner-up, Jval in the penultimate round and drew against Naitik in the final round. The total prize fund was ₹400000. The top three prizes were ₹60000, ₹40000 and ₹30000 along with a trophy each. The two-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Dhruvik Chess Academy at Hyatt Palace in Vadodara, Gujarat on 11th and 12th October 2025. Carlsen, Nakamura, Caruana and Gukesh set to clash at Clutch Chess Champions Showdown 2025 starting today

Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Fabiano Caruana and D Gukesh will face each other in Rapid format at Clutch Chess Champions Showdown 2025. On day 1, each win is worth 1 point and $1000, for day 2, each win is worth 2 points and $2000, a win on day 3 will fetch 3 points and $3000. Total prize fund is US$ 412000. Winner will get $12000, runner-up $90000, second runner-up $70000 and fourth $60000. There will be an additional $72000 bonus. The money from all drawn games accumulates each day into a pool (Champion's Jackpot) that shall be added to the overall winner’s prize. Kishan Gangolli wins Gold at 2nd FIDE Olympiad for People with Disabilities 2025

Kishan Gangolli scored an unbeaten 5/6 to win an individual Gold medal on Board no.3 at 2nd FIDE Olympiad for People with Disabilities 2025. In the previous edition in 2023, Kishan won Silver on the same board with the exact same board. This time also he remained undefeated. It was the sole medal for India. Team FIDE 1 became overall champion, scoring an unbeaten 11/12. The defending champion, Poland secured Silver. They scored sole 10/12 and also remained unbeaten. Pranav Venkatesh dominates 8th Salamanca Chess Festival 2025 Cradle of Modern Chess

The reigning World Junior 2025 champion, GM Pranav Venkatesh won 8th Salamanca Chess Festival 2025 with a round to spare. Former World Champion, GM Ruslan Ponomariov (UKR) was the only one who had chances of stopping his momentum. However, in their rematch, he could not seize his advantage, allowing Pranav once again to get the upper hand and win the game. Pranav won the next two games to become the champion 9.5/10, finishing a whopping 1.5 points ahead of the runner-up, Ponomariov. WGM Nadya Toncheva (BUL) scored an impressive 5/10 to finish third. SuperChess clinches 40th European Club Cup with a perfect score, Alkaloid second and Novy Bor third

SuperChess won 40th European Club Cup 2025 Open with a perfect score 14/14. Tuxera Aquaprofit Nagykanizsai Sakk Klub lost to the eventual winner by 2.5-3.5. Alkaloid defeated Rishon Le Zion #1 by 4.5-2.5 to finish second for the second consecutive year. The defending champion, Novy Bor won against Vugar Gashimov by 1.5-4.5 to finish third. Cercle d'échecs de Monte-Carlo won 29th European Club Cup Women by splitting the point with Turkish Airlines sports club. They scored 13/14. Sirmium Sremska Mitrovica lost to SuperChess 1.5-2.5, still they secured second place. The reigning champion, Tajfun SK Ljubljana drew against CE Gambit Bonnevoie to finish third. World Champion - GM D Gukesh, GM Nihal Sarin, GM Abhimanyu Puranik and FIDE Women's World Cup 2025 winner - GM Divya Deshmukh won individual Gold on their respective boards. IM P Saravana Krishnan scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 1st Eight Square Chess Academy Rating Open 2025. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. IM Md. Imran scored sole 8/9 to secure second place. Four players - Kavin E, Dhanush Ragav N S, Barath L and Logesh Kumar R scored 7.5/9 each. They secured third to sixth place respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund was ₹500001. The top three prizes were ₹50001, ₹35000 and ₹25000 along with a trophy each. The five-day nine round Rating Open tournament was organized by Eight Square Chess Academy at Hall of Chess, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu from 8th to 12th October 2025. 8th Salamanca Chess Festival 2025 R5-7: Pranav and Ponomariov keep winning

The reigning World Junior 2025 champion, GM Pranav Venkatesh increased his winning streak to five games at 8th Salamanca Chess Festival 2025. Pranav defeated GM Julio E Granda Zuniga (PER), IM Sara Khadem (ESP) and the only player whom he was yet to beat at this event - IM Sabrina Vega Gutierrez (ESP). His sole pursuer - former World Champion, GM Ruslan Ponomariov (UKR) also won all three of his games. Pranav is currently at 6.5/7, followed by Ponomariov at 6/7. They will clash in the eighth round. SuperChess defeated their coleader, Alkaloid to emerge sole leader at 40th European Club Cup 2025 Open. World Champion, D Gukesh scored the key victory over the World no.4, Arjun Erigaisi to ensure his team wins the match 3.5-2.5. SuperChess has taken sole lead 12/12. Turkish Airlines sports club lost to Tuxera Aquaprofit Nagykanizsai Sakk Klub by 2.5-3.5. The latter has moved up to sole second position 11/12. They will inevitably clash with each other in the final round. The defending champion, Novy Bor bounced back with a win over Beer Sheva 5-1. In the Women's event, SuperChess lost to Cercle d'échecs de Monte-Carlo 1.5-2.5. They just need a draw in the final round to become the champion. The reigning Goa State Under-19 Open champion, Mandar Pradip Lad scored a perfect 9/9 to win 8th Late Shri Chandrakant Naik Memorial Rapid Rating Open 2025. This is the third consecutive year he has won this event with a 100% score. In 2023, he scored 8/8 and in 2024 he did 9/9. He finished a whopping 1.5 points ahead of the rest. Five players - Ravindra Nikam, Saras Summer Powar, Aarav Chopdekar, Sagar G Shenoy and Rishikesh Parab scored 7.5/9 each. They secured second to sixth place respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹100000. The top three prizes were ₹20000, ₹12000 and ₹8000 along with a trophy each. This is Mandar's tenth overall tournament triumph of the year. He won eight of them with a perfect score. The reigning World Junior 2025 champion, GM Pranav Venkatesh won a back and forth battle in the fourth round of 8th Salamanca Chess Festival 2025. Pranav got a substantial advantage in the middlegame. However, his opponent, WGM Nadya Toncheva (BUL) kept fighting and getting herself back in the game. Eventually, she made the final mistake and lost. The Latin America legend, GM Julio Granda (PER) scored his first win of the event against IM Sabrina Vega Gutierrez (ESP). SuperChess and Alkaloid have maintained perfect score at 40th European Chess Club Cup 2025 Open. Alkaloid defeated their coleaders and the defending champion, Novy Bor by 4-2. GM Arjun Erigaisi and GM Yangyi Yu scored the crucial victories for Alkaloid. Arjun ended GM Vincent Keymer's winning streak as the latter's bold exchange sacrifice did not go his way. GM Parham Maghsoodloo and GM Daniel Dardha scored important victories to ensure Superchess wins against Bayegan Pendik chess sports club 4-2. In an incredibly sad and shocking turn of events, the Charlotte Chess Club made an official announcement on 20th October, stating that Grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky has passed away at the age of 29. Known to millions of Chess fans worldwide, Daniel was an exceptionally strong speed chess player, an amazing chess coach, a very popular chess content creator, and a world-renowned chess commentator. It was a Black day for the Chess World, and all of the chess community was very emotional upon receiving the news of his passing. Apoorv Kamble dominates Sakthi Group 31st Tamil Nadu IM-norm Closed Circuit 2025, Nandish third

FM Apoorv Kamble scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 to win 31st Tamil Nadu IM-norm Closed Circuit Chess Tournament 2025. He finished a staggering 1.5 points ahead of the competition and also scored an IM-norm. IM Wilson Guillermo Palencia Morales (COL) scored sole 6/9 to secure second place. FM V S Nandish scored 5.5/9 to finish third. Apoorv drew against both runners-up in the last two rounds.
