Magnus Carlsen defeated Arjun Erigaisi in the Blitz Playoff to win the 31st TePe Sigeman & Co. 2026. Even after taking a break from Classical Chess, whenever Magnus comes back to play, he is considered the main contender. Magnus always proves it to be right. After getting a shocking loss against Jorden van Foreest in the 4th round, Magnus came back and won 3 games on demand. Going into the last round, Arjun Erigaisi was leading with a half point over Magnus and Yagiz. Arjun drew his game against Woodward, and Magnus won against Yagiz to force a blitz playoff. Arjun Erigaisi scored a huge win over Zhu Jiner in the penultimate round of TePe Sigeman & Co 2026 to gain the sole half-point lead going into the final round. Arjun is currently on an unbeaten 4.5/6 points, and in the last round he will face Andy Woodward with white pieces. In the penultimate round, Carlsen won against Andy Woodward with black pieces, and he is trying to catch Arjun with 4/6 points, as he is in joint second place with Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus, and both players are paired up against each other for the last round. The other two games between Jorden van Foreest vs Nils Grandelius and Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus vs Nodirbek Abdusattorov ended in a draw. The last round will bring us a lot of action and exciting games.
