Sri Sai Baswanth superb at 100th Paris Open A, Kumaresh second
Sri Sai Baswanth P scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win 100th Paris Open A (1900-2250) 2025. He finished a full point ahead of the rest. Kumaresh A and Alexis Munier (FRA) scored 7/9 each. They secured second and third place respectively according to tie-breaks. The first prize was €1000. The Masters (≥2200) was a successful event for Indians. Four of them finished in top ten. Vignesh Advaith Vemula, FM Raghav V and FM Daaevik Wadhawan scored 6/9 each. All three of them scored an IM-norm each. Vignesh became one of the latest IMs of India at this event. Gowtham K K won the Open B (1650-1950) event. A detailed report will be published separately. The total participation in the centenary edition was 583, 78 in Masters (≥2200), 124 in Open A (1900-2250), 184 in Open B (1650-1950) and 197 in Open C (≤1700).
Masters (≥2200): IM-norm: Vignesh Advaith Vemula, Raghav V, Daaevik Wadhawan; WGM-norm: Sarayu
Four Indians finished in top ten in the Masters (≥2200) section. Out of them, FM Raghav V and then FM Daaevik Wadhawan, defeated the World no.1 among Women, GM Yifan Hou (CHN).

FM Raghav V (2305) did what the position needed him to do - sacrifice an exchange 14.Rxe5! dxe5 15.Bxg4 Rd8 16.Qe2 Nxg4 17.Qxg4 the alternative 14...Bxf3? was worse for Black as 15.Rxe7+ was there.
Raghav once again sacrificed on e5, this time it was his knight 43.Nxe5+! fxe5 44.Qf5+ and White won the game in the next few moves. An interview with Raghav will be published soon.
