Nubairshah Shaikh clear first at 29th Creon IM Round-Robin Closed 2025
IM Mohammad Nubairshah Shaikh scored an unbeaten 6.5/9 to win 29th Creon IM Round-Robin Closed 2025. Nubairshah finished a half point ahead of the rest. IM Simon Lamaze (FRA) and FM Ewen Pichon (FRA) scored 6/9 each. They secured second and third place respectively according to tie-breaks. The eight day nine-round round-robin rating tournament was organized by Lauron Wesley from 27th July to 3rd August at Ulli Senger Hall in Creon, France. Nubairshah's second tournament triumph in France in consecutive months
IM Nubairshah Shaikh, working with Public Works Department (PWD) Maharashtra, won three game of the round awards for Round 2, 3 and 6. In all those games, Nubairshah launched a devastating attack and got his opponent's queen. Check out Nubair's interview on Tele Canal Creonnais. Last year, Nubairshah finished third in the Open event. After this, he went on to win a Classical Rating Open tournament in Sri Lanka. That will be mentioned in detail in a separate report.

IM Simon Lamaze (FRA, 2458) went wrong early in the opening when he played 10.g3? IM Nubairshah Shaikh (2378) grabbed his opportunity 10...Qa5+ 11.Nc3 0-0-0 12.Bg2 exd4 13.Qxd4 Bc5 14.Qa4 Rhe8+ Black got a winning position in under 15 moves. He had no trouble converting his advantage into a win in another dozen moves.
The ten-player Round-Robin tournament featured three IMs from five countries across the world. The tournament was organized by Lauron Wesley from 27th July to 3rd August 2025 at Salle Ulli Senger le Bourg chemin de la Douve in Creon, France. The time control was 40 moves in 90 minutes + 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
