Shaunak Badole and Deekshitha Modipalli are 38th National Under-13 Open and Girls 2025 Champions
Shaunak Badole (MAH) scored an unbeaten 10/11 to win 38th National Under-13 Open Championship 2025. He finished a full point ahead of the competition. Siddhanth Poonja (KAR) scored 9/11 to secure second place. Eight players scored 8.5/11 each. Out of them, CM Madhvendra Pratap Sharma (MP) secured third place according to tie-breaks. WCM Deekshitha Modipalli (TEL) scored 9.5/11 to win the Girls event. Mysha Perwez (MAH) scored sole 9/11 to finish second. Maitreyi Mondal (WB) edged past three more players on tie-breaks to finish third 8.5/11. The total prize fund combining Open and Girls section was ₹800000. First National title for Shaunak, third for Deekshitha
The Nagpur District Amateur and Maharashtra State Sub-Junior 2025 champion, Shaunak Badole (MAH) was the sole leader 9/10, heading into the final round. He was a full point ahead of the rest. A draw was enough for him to become a clear a champion, yet he went for the maximum. Shaunak defeated Arush A (KER) to become a clear champion. Dharsh M (TN) lost to Siddhanth Poonja (KAR) to secure second place. CM Madhvendra Pratap Sharma (MP) won against CM Vyom Malhotra (HAR) to finish third. This Shaunak's sixth overall, second rating tournament triumph of the year.
The reigning Telangana State Under-13 Girls and National School Under-13 Girls 2025 champion, WCM Deekshitha Modipalli (TEL) was the sole leader 9/10, going into the final round. Maitreyi Mondal (WB) was the only pursuer at 8.5/10. Arpita Patankar (GUJ) drew against Deekshitha and the latter became a clear champion. Mysha Perwez (MAH) defeated Maitreyi to secure second place, Maitreyi finished third. This is Deekshitha's sixth overall, second National and rating tournament victory of the year.

Niladri - Shaunak, Round 9
Shaunak Badole (MAH, 2086) made a nice sacrifice 28...Nxg4! to expose his opponent, Niladri Banerjee's (WB, 2039). While there is no immediate win for Black, it is quite difficult to defend the position for a human. 29.fxg4 Qxg4+ 30.Kh1 Nh5 31.Nd1? Qh3 32.Rxf7 Rxf7 33.Kg1?? Qg4+ 34.Kh1 Qf3+ 35.Kg1 Nf4 36.Bf1 Rf5 37.h4 Qg3+ and it's over. This win put Shaunak in the sole lead after the ninth round and he maintained it till the end.
Deekshitha - Pratitee, Round 8
WCM Deekshitha Modipalli (TEL, 1934) seized her opportunity when her opponent, WCM Pratitee Bordoloi (KAR, 2035) erred 21...Be4? 22.Rxc8 Rxc8 23.Nxe6! fxe6 24.Bxe6+ Kf8 25.Bxc8 Qxe5 26.fxe5 Nxc8 27.Rc1 and White went on to win the game.

The eleven-round Swiss league rating tournaments were organized by Goa Chess Association and Daivadnya Samaj, Margao at Daivadnya Bhavan, Calconda in Margao, Goa from 3rd to 9th September 2025. The time control was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1
