Ojasva Singh wins 1st Imperial Rapid Rating Open 2024

FM Ojasva Singh, FM Aaryan Varshney and IM Himal Gusain scored an unbeaten 8/9 each at 1st Imperial Rapid Rating Open 2024. Ojasva won the tournament due to better tie-break score. Aaryan and Himal were placed second and third. Ojasva drew against the eventual runner-up, Aaryan in the sixth round. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹500000. The top three prizes were ₹50000, ₹35000 and ₹25000 along with a trophy each. The two-day nine round Rapid Rating tournament was organized by Imperial Chess Academy at RPS International School in Gurugram, Haryana on 20th and 21st April 2024. Ojasva wins his fourth tournament of the year

FM Ojasva Singh started with four wins in-a-row. Then he drew the next two games, before finishing the event with a hat-trick of wins, his second one at that. Eight players - FM Sahib Singh, IM-elect FM Aaryan Varshney, Ojasva, GM Swayams Mishra, Vatsal Singla, IM Himal Gusain, Saurabh Choubey and Harish Sharma were at 7/8 each before the final round. Sahib drew with Swayams, Saurabh lost to Ojasva, Himal and Aaryan defeated Harish and Vatsal. Ojasva became champion, Aaryan second and Himal third.

A total of 397 players including two GMs, two IMs and a WGM took part from various states all over the country, one from England and Nigeria each in this two-day nine round Rapid Rating tournament. It was organized by Imperial Chess Academy at RPS International School in Gurugram, Haryana on 20th and 21st April 2024. The time control of the event was 25 minutes + 10 seconds increment per move.
