Muthaiah Al clear first at 11th Liffre Open 2025

IM FT Muthaiah Al scored an unbeaten 7/9 to win 11th Liffre Open A (>1650) 2025. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. FM Louis Vallee (FRA) and Pierre-Basile Coset (FRA) scored 6.5/9 each to secure second and third place respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund was €5000. The top three prizes were €1000, €800 and €600 each respectively. The seven-day nine round Rating tournament was organized by Echiquier du Pays de Liffré from 18th to 24th October 2025 at Intergenerational Space, Liffre in France. Muthaiah's first triumph of the year

Pierre-Basile Coiffait (FRA) was the sole leader 6.5/8, heading into the last round. IM Muthaiah Al and IM Floryan Eugene (FRA) were trailing by a half point at 6/8 each. Muthaiah defeated Pierre-Basile to become a clear champion, the latter finished third. Floryan lost to FM Louis Vallee (FRA) and the latter secured second place. The total participation was 220 players - 80 in Open A (>1650), 87 in Open B (<1749) and 53 in Blitz.

A total of 80 players including 2 GMs, 5 IMs, a WGM and a WIM took part from seven countries across the world in the Open A (>1650) section. The seven-day nine round Rating tournament was organized by Echiquier du Pays de Liffré from 18th to 24th October 2025 at Intergenerational Space, Liffre in France. The tournament had a time control of 100 minutes/40 moves + 30 minutes/rest with 30 seconds increment from move no. 1.
