Arjun Erigaisi is World no.3 again in June 2025 FIDE Rating List

Arjun Erigaisi has returned to World no.3 in FIDE Rating List June 2025. Although, his games from Norway Chess did not get counted as they concluded in June, still other players movements helped him to regain his no.3 place first time in a published FIDE Rating list since October 2024. R Praggnanandhaa gained 8.6 Elo rating points by winning Superbet Chess Classic 2025. He maintained his World no.7 rank. Seven Indians are still in top 30. GM Nihal Sarin gained 3.4 Elo rating points by winning Silver at Asian Individual Men 2025. GM R Vaishali increased her rating by 6 points to move to World no.14 among Women. Praggnanandhaa retains World no.7

Currently, there are three Indians in World top 10, same as the last three months. The gap of average rating between the top two federations - USA and India got reduced to only one rating point now in the Open section. There is a good chance India will have four players in Top ten in July 2025 FIDE Rating list.

Women: Vaishali and Vantika gains Elo rating points

Four Indian women are in top 20. They are - GM Koneru Humpy, World no.6, GM Harika Dronavalli, World no.13, GM R Vaishali, World no.14 and IM Divya Deshmukh, World no.18 among women. Vaishali gained 6 Elo rating points at FIDE Grosslobming GP in Austria. IM Vantika Agrawal added 10.9 Elo rating points due to her strong performance at Asian Individual Women 2025. There are still nine Indians among the top 100 women.
