DreamHack Rapid and Blitz 2022 witnesses the participation of 8 GMs and 10 IMs

DreamHack India is the biggest gaming festival in the country. To be held in Hyderabad from 4th to 6th of November 2022, it will witness the gathering of over 20,000 gamers from all across the country! This year, chess has been introduced as a part of the DreamHack. In order to make it like a chess festival, we have the DreamHack Rapid and Blitz with a massive prize fund of Rs.10 lakh! A total of 382 people have registered for the event already, with several strong titled players (including 8 Grandmasters!) also taking part.

Chess at DreamHack Rapid and Blitz is taking place at the Hitex Exhibition Center in Hyderabad 2022 from 4th to 6th of November 2022. While everyone is excited for the ChessBase India Original Death Match 2.0 and Comedians Over the Board, one of the events that is people's favorite is the DreamHack Rapid and Blitz! A massive 382 people have registered for the event. The Rapid tournament will take place on 4th and 5th November, and the Blitz tournament will take place on 6th November.

The Tandem simul starts on November 6th, 4:30 PM onwards! The winners of the age group category in blitz (15 of them) will get to play against Arjun and Gukesh. It will be a clock simul with 20 players. 5 players will be selected later.

The top boards

The total number of players are close to 400 with 7 GMs and 10 IMs fighting for the first prize of Rs.1,50,000 in rapid and Rs.40,000 in blitz. We also have 1 WIM and 7 FMs at the event.

Time control and Schedule

For the Rapid tournament, the time control is 15 minutes + 10 seconds of increment starting from move 1. A total of 9 rounds of Rapid will be played - 4 rounds will be played in 4th November, and the rest of 5 will be played on 5th November. The Blitz tournament will take place on 6th November, a total of 11 rounds of Blitz will be played. The time control for the Blitz event is 3 minutes + 2 second increment starting from move 1.
