FM Arun Kataria scored an unbeaten 6/7 to win 30th Augsburg Peace Festival Rating Open 2025. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. FM Anton Bilchinski (GER), Markus Böhme (GER) and Thomas Lang (GER) scored 5.5/7 each. They secured second, third and fourth place respectively. The top three prizes were €650, €450 and €350 each. The four-day seven round Rating Open A tournament was organized by Frank Eckhardt at Bürgersaal Stadtbergen in Augsburg, Germany from 7th to 10th August 2025. Four players - FM Arun Kataria, GM Hagen Poetsch (GER), Thomas Lang (GER) and Anton Bilchinski (GER) were the coleaders 5/6 each, heading into the last round. Arun defeated Hagen to become a clear champion. Thomas drew against Anton and the latter secured second place. Markus Bohme (GER) won against Vincent Blodig (GER) to finish third. A week after this event, Arun won a Blitz Open event in Udaipur, Rajasthan

Position after 29.Rxe7+

GM Hagen Poetsch (GER, 2479) made the incorrect decision of moving his king to f6 29...Kf6?? FM Arun Kataria (2308) correctly spotted 30.Rc7 +- Black cannot save the bishop. 30...Rf3 31.Rxc6+ Ke5 32.Rxa6 and White went on to win the game comfortably.

A total of 103 players including a GM took part from eight countries across the world. The four-day seven round Rating Open A tournament was organized by Frank Eckhardt at Bürgersaal Stadtbergen in Augsburg, Germany from 7th to 10th August 2025. The time control of the event was 40 moves in 90 minutes + 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
