Aronyak Ghosh dominates Pravabati Devi Memorial Cup Rapid Rating Open 2025

IM Aronyak Ghosh scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win Pravabati Devi Memorial Cup Rapid Rating Open 2025. He finished a full point ahead of the rest. IM Utsab Chatterjee scored 7.5/9 to secure second place. Half a dozen players scored 7/9. Among them, Dr. IM Rajdeep Sarkar was placed third according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund was ₹300000. The top three prizes in Rapid rating were ₹40000, ₹20000 and ₹10000 along with a trophy each. WFM Sneha Halder and Soham Roy scored an unbeaten 6.5/7 each in the Blitz Open. IM Aronyak Ghosh was the sole leader 7.5/8, heading into the last round of Rapid Rating Open. IM Utsab Chatterjee was the lone pursuer at 7/8. IM Neelash Saha lost to Aronyak who became the champion. IM Sanket Chakravarty drew against IM Utsab Chatterjee and the latter finished second. IM Rajdeep Sarkar drew against WFM Sneha Halder and the former claimed third place. Sneha finished fourth.

Sneha clinches Blitz Open

Five players - IM Neelash Saha, IM Rajdeep Sarkar, IM Aronyak Ghosh, Soham Roy and WFM Sneha Halder shared the lead 5.5/6, before the final round of Blitz Open. Sneha defeated Rajdeep to become the champion. Soham won against IM Sanket Chakravarty to secure second place. Neelash drew against Aronyak and the latter finished third.

A total of 181 players including five IMs took part from various parts of India. The three-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Aruar Udayachal Club at Aruar B M D P Institution in Aruar, Purba Bardhaman from 28th to 30th November 2025. The time control of the event was 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment per move.
