Qun - Xiangzhi: 0.5-0.5

Qun Ma (CHN, 2651) got an opportunity against Xiangzhi Bu (CHN, 2671) in the middlegame.

Position after 20.d5

White played a thematic 20.d5, asking Black on how he is going to capture it. Black decided to go for 20...Ba4? 21.Qxa4 Rxc4 22.Qb3 Qc7 23.dxe6 fxe6 24.Red1 here computer suggest 24.g3 to maintain a decisive advantage for White as it not only creates an escape route for the white king, but also makes a retreat square for the knight. Later in the endgame White had a smaller opportunity which he could not seize and the game ended in a draw.

Qun Ma (CHN) could have scored his first win and handed Xiangzhi Bu (CHN) his first loss of the event

Anish Giri (NED) scored his first half point against Xiangyu Xu (CHN), after suffering three consecutive losses

Vladislav Artemiev - Daniil Dubov: 0.5-0.5
