GoodEarth Online Blitz Open on 5th September with a total prize fund of ₹60000

GoodEarth will organize the next ChessBase Online Blitz Open on Saturday 5th September 2020 at 8 p.m. IST. The tournament has a total Prize fund of ₹60000. Entry is FREE for GMs, IMs, WGMs and WIMs. Entry fee is only ₹200 and for under-15 and senior citizen, the entry fee is ₹150. The entire prize fund is sponsored by GoodEarth. They are organizing this event in association with Chess Kerala and ChessBase India. Chess Kerala organized a Checkmate Covid Fundraiser in May and their events always have low entry fees to encourage maximum participation. First prize for the champion is ₹12000. MCT Finals: Nakamura beats Carlsen in the third set

There are not a lot of people who can beat Carlsen quite often. Nakamura beat Carlsen twice in the third set within the span of three games. If anyone has the World champion's number now, it would definitely be Nakamura. The Speed King had more reasons to celebrate as his twitch channel became the first chess channel to reach 500K followers. Although he started Day 3 of the finals with a loss, then he made a quick draw in just 17 moves and won the next game after the Norwegian misplayed in the endgame. Fourth game was a hard fought draw and in the fifth game the World no.1 made blunders in move no.11 and 12 which allowed Nakamura to score a miniature like win in just 22 moves. Carlsen was unable to capitalize his advantage in the final blitz game allowing Nakamura to win the third set and take the lead. Finals Day 4 will continue today from 7:30 p.m. IST. Photo: FIDE

MCT Finals: Carlsen wins the second set

Whenever Carlsen is backed into a corner, it is expected that he will make a fierce comeback. Except Day 2 of the Finals in Magnus Carlsen Chess Tour Finals started with a victory by Nakamura. He continued with his previous day's momentum. However surprisingly he made a 14-move draw with the white pieces in the next game. Carlsen beat Nakamura in the third game of the day and once again Nakamura repeated the same short draw. After a prolonged draw in the fifth game, the final blitz game witnessed Nakamura blunder terribly and lose the game and set. Thus Carlsen won the second set and equalized the finals score to 1-1. Gukesh scores 6.0/6 in his blitz challenge on Playchess

MCT Finals: Nakamura beats Carlsen in the first set

If you have to choose one person in the world who can beat Carlsen in online rapid and blitz then that would be the 'Speed King' Hikaru Nakamura. Day 1 in the finals of Magnus Carlsen Chess Tour Finals went to Nakamura. He looked strong from the very first game and he managed to win the second game after making a draw in the first one. He continued his momentum in the third game too but the Norwegian somehow managed to save the game and set. In the fourth game, Nakamura needed just a draw to win the set and the game seemed to be a draw for the better part of the game. MCT Finals: Carlsen sets up a 'Dream Final'

Magnus Carlsen will face Hikaru Nakamura at the finals of Magnus Carlsen Chess Tour Finals. Of course it is a highly anticipated dream final. The fourth set of the Semi-Final match between Carlsen and Ding Liren was not like the first three sets as Ding Liren struck back in the second game immediately after losing the first one. Three draws followed by a tumultuous final blitz game. World champion's blunder did allow Ding Liren to have a real chance at the finals but he couldn't maintain his foothold and a slip cost him the important game, set and match. David Navara is Czech no.1 and World no.27 at the moment. He is also known as one of the most humble and nicest grandmasters in the world. He is also a good friend of Harikrishna and lives just two floors apart in the same building in Prague. He was latest guest on Surya Sekhar Ganguly's talk show In Conversation with. We get to know about how Navara started his journey in chess, his first coach, when he played against Kasparov for the first time, his favorite chess and non-chess books and many more things. MCT Finals: Nakamura eliminates Dubov and advances to the finals

Nakamura continues his momentum as he defeated Dubov in third consecutive set and secured his place in the finals of Magnus Carlsen Chess Tour Finals. After making two draws in the first two games of the third set, the 'Speed King' capitalized on his opponent's mistake and won the third game. In the fourth rapid game, Nakamura was completely winning, yet he decided to make a draw as it was enough for him to advance to the finals. Carlsen made a short draw in the first game against Ding Liren and then he beat him in the next two games, taking a 2-1 lead. Ding Liren must win the next set to keep his chances alive. Praggnanandhaa shows his phenomenal knowledge and skills on his 15th birthday

10th of August 2020 - Praggnanandhaa turned 15 years old. In order to celebrate his birthday, Pragg was sent a message by IM Sagar Shah - Would you like to test yourself today? Without any hesitation Pragg agreed. Normal 15 year old kids would love to have a party or spend time with their friends on their birthday. But Pragg is different. He would rather give up everything that is dear to him, if he could spend some time learning a new trick on the chess board. And, so the test began! 15 positions were solved in almost an hour. Two more bonus positions were given! At the end of it all it turned out to be a tremendous test, which you too should give it a go and then compare yourself with the biggest talent that the chess world has seen in recent years.

MCT Finals: Carlsen avenges his loss

One thing you can always count on is Carlsen avenging his loss. After losing the first set against Ding Liren on the first day of Magnus Carlsen Chess Tour Finals, the world champion won the second set in just three games. Ding Liren couldn't get out of the gate in the second set. Nakamura continued his domination over Dubov as after making a marathon 91-move draw in the first game, Dubov got a half chance in the endgame of the next game but he was unable to capitalize. In the last two games, things just did not go in Dubov's way. The former World Rapid champion Daniil Dubov is in a must-win situation.
