China to host Women's Candidates Final and Women's World Championship Match

The Women's World Championship Match will be played in Shanghai and Chongqing, China from 3rd to 25th July 2023. The reigning Women's World Championn, Ju Wenjun will face the winner of FIDE Women's Candidates 2022-23 final between Lei Tingjie and Tan Zhongyi which will take place in Chongqing from 27th March to 6th April 2023. Wenjun has already defeated Zhongyi to dethrone her World title reign in 2018. Will Zhongyi be able to set up a rematch by winning the Candidates Final? There is a good mathematical probability of the chess universe having two world champions from China in both Open and Women by the end of July this year. Photo: FIDE
