Novy Bor Chess Club is leading at Czech Extraliga 2025-26
The Czech Extraliga is one of the best team competitions in Europe, and it started on 29th November 2025. In this long event, the twelve strongest teams are competing and offering exciting, eye-catching matches. The 8th round is finished on the 22nd Feb, and Novy Bor Chess Club is leading the league with 21 points, Exhibition Centre Lysá nad Labem and ŠK ZIKUDA Turnov A are in joint second place with 19 points. Novy Bor Chess Club already won the Czech Extraliga a record 14 times, and this year they are defending their title. Two new teams and more at stake
Can anyone dethrone Novy Bor Chess Club? This is a common question all the teams and players have in their minds before the competition starts, as Novy Bor Chess Club already won this event a record 14 times. Compared to last year, the teams ŠK Líně and GASCO Pardubice are missing from the competition. They have been replaced by the B teams of Turnov and Moravská Slavia. A new prize fund is introduced this time for the winners, and the first place will receive 50,000 CZK, the second place 30,000 CZK, and the third place 20,000 CZK.
SK ZIKUDA Turnov A won against Novy Bor Chess Club (4.5-3.5)
The leader of the top competition, 1. Novoborský ŠK fell to the A team of ZIKUDA Turnov in Saturday's match. Slowly but surely, this team is becoming a regular executioner of the historically most successful Extraliga team, which repeated the victory from the previous season.

This year's šachy.cz Extraliga only has the final three-round tournament ahead of it, which will take place in Olomouc from March 27 to 29, 2026. The fight for medals, but also for places that mean survival in the competition, is completely open. All of this promises a great spectacle.
