Your chance to train with GM Harshit Raja at the new ChessBase India office

by Sagar Shah - 13/08/2026

Grandmaster Harshit Raja is coming to Mumbai. From 17th to 19th August 2026, the 2504-rated GM will conduct two intensive camps at ChessBase India's new Vidyavihar office - mornings on the secrets of positional chess for beginners, evenings on calculation for players rated 1800 and above. Both groups are kept small, so this is closer to private training than a lecture. Registration is open now, and seats are limited.

Harshit had conducted an excellent training camp in Mumbai last year

There will be two camps hosted on the same days.

  • Positional Chess Camp for players of all levels

  • Calculation Chess Camp for players above the Elo of 1800 FIDE

Both camps are deliberately small. Rather than a lecture hall, the format is closer to what a serious player gets in private training: work through positions, get corrected in real time, and leave with a method rather than a set of notes. We also have a wonderful setup at the ChessBase India office

Camp 1 - Secrets of Positional Chess (Players of all levels)

  • Dates: 17th, 18th, 19th August 2026

  • Timings: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily

  • Total: 9 hours of instruction

  • Fees: ₹3,000 + GST per student

This camp is for players of all levels. GM Harshit Raja will show you typical plans and ideas that will help you become a better positional player. How to take advantage of the d5 square weakness, typical positional mistakes, instructive errors from Harshit's own games are things that will be shown during this camp.

A couple of positions given by Harshit to improve your positional understanding:

Black to play. Find the best positional move.

How should Black continue in this position. Come up with a plan.

Camp 2 - Calculation (FIDE Rating 1800+)

  • Dates: 17th, 18th, 19th August 2026

  • Timings: 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily

  • Total: 12 hours of instruction

  • Fees: ₹10,000 + GST per student

The idea of this camp is to limit it to advanced students only. Calculation is one of the most important subjects if you want to improve as a chess player. There are many techniques that can help you become a strong calculator. In this camp Harshit will try to touch upon these topics. After 12 hours of this camp, you are sure to become a better calculator.

Here's a position shared by Harshit:

An excellent position for calculation. White to play.

Harshit's achievements as a trainer

Harshit has many students and has helped many of them improve. In fact on CircleChess he is one of the most well known trainers working with more than 100 students on a monthly basis. But one of his biggest achievements as a trainer is working with a young US talent Logan Shafer. Harshit began working with Logan when he was rated below 2000. His rating is now 2328 Elo.
