Aaryan Varshney scores 9/9 to win 7th DD-DBCA Above 1600 Open FIDE Rating 2026

Aaryan Varshney scored a brilliant 9/9 points to win the 7th DD-DBCA Above 1600 Open Fide Rating Chess Tournament-2026. Aaryan remained unbeaten throughout the event and scored a win over runner-up Utsab Chatterjee, too. IM Utsab Chatterjee of RSPB scored 8/9 points to finish 2nd. Despite losing the 1st and 3rd games, local boy Aniket Das won 6 in a row, scoring 7/9 points and securing 3rd place. The tournament was organised by Dhanuka Dhunseri Dibyendu Barua Chess Academy from 20th to 25th March, with a total prize fund of ₹5,00,000, and the top 3 prizes were ₹75,000, ₹60,000, and ₹40,000. Aaryan's 3rd-rated tournament triumph of 2026

India's 92nd GM Aaryan Varshney scored his final GM Norm this year after winning the 16th Andranik Margaryan Memorial 2026. Aaryan also won the 1st Kangra Rapid Rating at the start of this year. Here at the 7th DD-DBCA Open Fide Rating Chess Tournament, Aaryan comfortably scored a perfect 9/9 to clinch the title and increased his ELO by 8.6 points.
