Vitaly Sivuk wins 18th IGB Dato' Arthur Tan Malaysian Open 2023, Mitrabha Guha second

GM Vitaly Sivuk (SWE), GM Mitrabha Guha, IM Aditya Bagus Arfan (INA) and GM Deepan Chakkravarthy scored 7/9 each. Sivuk won 18th IGB Dato' Arthur Tan Malaysian Open 2023 due to better tie-breaks. The remaining three were placed second to fourth respectively. Mitrabha was the sole leader heading into the last round. Deepan defeated him and Sivuk drew against GM Darwin Laylo (PHI). The top three prizes were US$ 3500, 2000 and 1000 along with a medal each respectively. The tournament was organized by DAT Chess Centre from 28th August to 3rd September 2023 at Cititel Midvalley in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A total of 138 players including 9 GMs, 15 IMs, 3 WGM and 7 WIMs took part from 16 countries in the Open section. The Senior section had 40 players including 2 GMs and 6 IMs from ten countries. The Challengers section had 208 players from 11 countries across the world. The six-day nine round Swiss-league Rating tournament was organized by DAT Chess Centre at Cititel Midvalley, Midvalley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 28th August to 3rd September 2023. The time control for each event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
