7-year-old Shivay Singh wins Royal Jaipur Under-1800 Rating Tournament 2025

7-year-old Shivay Singh and Sudip Patil scored 7/8 each at Royal Jaipur Under-1800 Rating Tournament 2025. The little kid from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh won the tournament due to better tie-break score. Sudip secured second place. Five players scored 7.5/9 each. Among them, 11-year-old Kavyansh Jain was placed third. Both Shivay and Kavyansh remained undefeated. The total prize fund was ₹1150000. The top three prizes were ₹100000, ₹75000 and ₹50000 along with a trophy each. The three-day nine round Under-1800 Rating tournament was organized by Royal Chess Club and Services at Hotel Amar Palace in Jaipur, Rajasthan from 30th May to 1st June 2025. Shivay's first rating tournament triumph of his career, Kids dominate the podium

The reigning Uttar Pradesh State Under-9 Open 2025 champion, was the sole leader 7.5/8, heading into the final round. Sushant Tiwari, Rohit Rahulkumar J and Sudip Patil were trailing by a half point at 7/8 each. Shivay drew with Rohit to become the champion. Sushant lost to Sudip who finished second. Kavyansh Jain defeated Dhruv Gupta to claim third place. Shivay's father also participated in this event. Two kids - seven and eleven years old, Shivay and Kavyansh showed incredible performance by clinching first and third place. It just shows that talent is there in various parts of India. They are getting younger and stronger by the day.

The closing ceremony was graced by esteemed guests including Chief Guest - Mr. Mallikarjun, DIG Railway Police NWR, Special Guest - Mr. Tarun Rawal, Editor Samachar Jagat, Mr. Tarun Tank, owner IT Voice, IA Neelesh Kumawat, Chief Arbiter, Ravi Bajaj, Secretary, Royal Jaipur Chess Club, Amrish Joshi, Waves, and Dr. Jayendra Chaturvedi, Organizing Secretary.

Shivay Singh scored an unbeaten 8/9, won the tournament on tie-breaks and gained 104.4 Elo rating points

The tournament was inaugurated by the Chief Guest - Mr. Jyoti Kumar Maheshwari, Chairman Jyoti Maheshwari Foundation, in presence of Mr. Nirmal Bardiya, Chairman RMC Gems India Ltd., (Retd.) Justice J K Ranka, Rajasthan High Court, Mr. Rajesh Sharma, Managing Director, Hotel Amar Palace, Mahendra Chaturvedi, Lalit Bharadia, and IA Neelesh Kumawat,  Chief Arbiter.

A total of 363 players took part from various parts of the country, two from Sri Lanka and one from the USA. The three-day nine round Under-1800 Rating tournament was organized by Royal Chess Club and Services at Hotel Amar Palace in Jaipur, Rajasthan from 30th May to 1st June 2025. The time control of the event was 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
