Sakshi Chitlange Golden in BRICS Games 2022, Bronze for Mitrabha, Ilamparthi and Bhagyashree

National Women 2022 runner-up, WIM Sakshi Chitlange clinched the Gold for India in Above 19 Women section at BRICS Games 2022. She scored an unbeaten 5.5/6 and finished 1.5 points ahead of the field. GM Mitrabha Guha, Ilamparthi A R and 31st National Under-18 Girls champion, WFM Bhagyashree Patil won a Bronze medal each in Above 19 Men, Under-18 Men and Women section respectively. The entire event was held online on chess.com in a double round-robin format. The time control was 15 minutes + 5 seconds increment. Participants were from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The tournament was organized by Chinese Chess Association from 1st to 3rd September 2022.



Four medals for India in four sections

WIM Sakshi Chitlange was the only one who remained undefeated out of the four Indian medalists. She is a WGM-elect as she has all the required three norms, only requires to touch 2300 in the live ratings, to become the next Woman Grandmaster of India.
