India wins 31 medals at Western Asian Youth Chess Championships 2025
India has won a total of 31 medals including 6 Gold, 14 Silver and 11 Bronze medals at Western Asian Youth Chess Championships 2025. A total of 16 medals were won individually and 15 were team medals. R Aaranya won 3 Gold and a Silver medal, and Anvi Deepak Hinge won 2 Gold and 4 Silver medals, and Teesha Byadwal got 2 Gold, a Silver and a Bronze in Under-8 Girls category. Aamuktha Guntaka and Amulya Guruprasad won a Gold, Silver and Bronze medal each in Under-14 and Under-18 Girls category respectively. IM Ethan Vaz won 2 Silver and 3 Bronze in Under-16 Open. Aaranya and Aamuktha win individual Gold each
India has won a total of 31 medals, 11 in Classical, 11 in Rapid and 9 in Blitz. Out of the eleven individual medal winners, R Aaranya and Aamuktha Guntaka are the only two players who have won individual Gold medals in Under-8 Girls Classical and Under-14 Girls Rapid events respectively. The tournament took place in Dushanbe, Tajikistan from 22nd to 28th April 2025.
Classical: Under-8 Girls - Gold, Silver and Team Gold
The reigning National Under-7 Girls 2024 champion, R Aaranya (1731) scored 7.5/9 to win the Gold in Under-8 Girls. She finished a full point ahead of the rest. World Cadet Under-8 Girls 2025 Silver medalist, Anvi Deepak Hinge (1474) scored 6.5/9 to secure a Silver medal. Aiziya Issatay (KAZ, 1530) claimed Bronze scoring 6/9. Aaranya and Anvi won a Team Gold medal with Teesha Byadwal (1451) with a combined score 19/27.
