India wins 13 medals at Asian Schools Chess Championships 2025

India has won 13 medals including 8 individual (2 Gold, 3 Silver and 3 Bronze) medals, 5 team (1 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze) medals at Asian Schools Chess Championships 2025. Shreyanshi Jain won Silver in Classical, Gold in Rapid and Bronze in Blitz in Under-7 Girls category. Nakshatra Gumudavelly is the only other Indian to have won an individual Gold. She clinched it in Under-9 Girls Rapid. Samuel Stephen Noble S and Kavish Bhattad secured Silver in Under-13 Open Classical and Under-7 Open Rapid respectively. Shreyanshi clinches Gold, Silver and Blitz in three different formats, Nakshatra also claims the Gold

India has won 13 medals this year, 20 less than the previous edition. Total participation by the Indian players were much less compared to 2024 and moreover some events did not even feature a single Indian player, hence the difference in total medal count. Six different Indians won a total of eight individual medals in total combining all three formats.

Classical: Under-7 Open: Team Silver

India won Team Silver in Under-7 Open category scoring 15.5/27. Mongolia won Gold 20.5/27. Kavish Bhattad, Sivansh Naga Aditya Kasukurthy and Laksh Satyen Jain contributed 6/9, 5.5/9 and 4/9 each towards the team medal.

Under-7 Girls: Silver

The reigning National Under-7 Girls champion, Shreynashi Jain (1494) scored 7.5/9 to secure a Silver medal. Her sole loss was against the eventual Gold medal winner, Vo Lan Khue (VIE) who scored 8.5/9. Uurtsaikh Bayanlkham (MGL) scored 7/9 to claim Bronze.

Under-13 Open: Silver

CM Baatar Batbaatar (MGL, 2090) and Samuel Stephen Noble S (2030), both of them scored 7.5/9 each in Under-13 Open. Stephen suffered his sole loss against Baatar in the fourth round. Thus, Baatar clinched Gold and Samuel had to settle for Silver. Zharas Aldiyar (KAZ, 2046) got Bronze scoring 7/9.

Mikhail Ev. Markov (1748) scored a perfect 7/7 to clinch Gold. The reigning National Schools Under-7 Open 2025 champion, Kavish Bhattad (1436), Bat-Erdene Buyankhishig (MGL) and Makar Chernyshov (KAZ, 1485) scored 6/7 each. Kavish secured Silver medal, Buyankhishig Bronze. India also won a Team Silver medal scoring 12/21. Mongolia won Team Gold 16.5/21.

Shreyanshi Jain (1475) first won Gold in the Rapid event. Four players - Shreyanshi, Venera Zhakisheva (KAZ, 1578), Delgersaikhan Sod (MGL) and Mohinur Azamkhujaeva (UZB, 1568) scored 6/7 each. Shreyanshi clinched Gold due to best tie-break scores. Venera and Delgersaikhan received Silver and Bronze medals respectively.
