Garry Kasparov extended his lead to 8.5-3.5 after Day 2 of Clutch Chess Legends 2025. Vishy Anand had a rough start as he lost on time in a better position in Game 5. The next Rapid game ended in a draw. Kasparov won the first Blitz game of the day in just 18 moves after his opponent made a one-move tactical blunder. In the next Blitz game, Kasparov repeated in a better position to keep his lead. Final day games have 3 points each, so Anand still has chances to win the clash. In the first Rapid game of the day, GM Vishy Anand ran out of time against GM Garry Kasparov.
In the final moments of the game, Kasparov played 29.f5 Bxf5 30.gxf5 bxc5 31.dxc5 Ne4 gave Anand the upper hand. However, he ran out of time after 32.c4
The second Rapid game of the day was a well contested draw.
Kasparov won the first Blitz game of the day in 18 moves when Anand made a one-move tactical blunder.
In the eighth game of the match, second Blitz game of the day, Kasparov repeated in a better position to draw and finish the day with a score of 8.5 points. Anand is at 3.5 points.
