Clutch Chess Legends 2025 G5-8: Kasparov increases his lead against Anand 8.5-3.5

Garry Kasparov extended his lead to 8.5-3.5 after Day 2 of Clutch Chess Legends 2025. Vishy Anand had a rough start as he lost on time in a better position in Game 5. The next Rapid game ended in a draw. Kasparov won the first Blitz game of the day in just 18 moves after his opponent made a one-move tactical blunder. In the next Blitz game, Kasparov repeated in a better position to keep his lead. Final day games have 3 points each, so Anand still has chances to win the clash. The first two games of each day will be Rapid with a time control of 25 minutes + 10 seconds increment, the next two games will be played in Blitz time control of 5 minutes + 3 seconds increment. It is not completely over for Vishy Anand. On the final day, he needs to win any two out of the four games and draw the remaining two to win the clash. As three points are up for grabs for a win and 1.5 points for a draw on Day 3.

In the first Rapid game of the day, GM Vishy Anand ran out of time against GM Garry Kasparov.
