The World Championship fever has begun!

by Nongsha Angom - 27/08/2018

The countdown has begun. We are just 74 days away from witnessing one of the youngest and the strongest world chess championship matches in history. Both players are above 2800 Elo and hold the top two spots in the world rankings. It's also the first time an American player has a chance to win the chess crown since Fischer-Spassky, 1972 if we exclude Kamsky-Karpov 1996 match. The 7th round of the Sinquefield Cup a.k.a "Super Saturday" was a big one due to the final showdown of Carlsen and Caruana before facing each other for the world title in London. 11-year-old CM Aditya Mittal has analysed this particular game in great depth and details and has shared it with us.

It was the game that everybody wanted to see. Magnus came very close to breaking through Caruana's seemingly bulletproof Petroff in the 7th round of the Sinquefield Cup 2018. Magnus got a sizable edge against Caruana's pet Petroff but in a difficult position, Caruana played precisely and quickly to hold the draw.

Our 11-year-old annotator, CM Aditya Mittal, who has annotated games for us in the past, shares with us his in-depth analysis of the Carslen-Caruana game.
