Aadik Theophane Lenin wins a double at SRR Classical and Blitz Rating Open 2025

Aadik Theophane Lenin scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win SRR Rating Open 2025. He finished a half point ahead of the field. Five players - Hari Ganesh T, Ajjesh J R, Nigash G, Sivan S Roshan and IM Ramnathan Balasubramaniam scored 7.5/9 each. They were placed second to sixth according to tie-breaks The total prize fund in the Classical event was ₹800000. The top three prizes were ₹80000, ₹60000 and ₹40000 along with a trophy each. In Blitz, Aadik, Balkishan A, Gyana Sai Santhosh M and Vignesh B scored 8/9 each. Aadik became champion. The remaining three were adjudged second to fourth respectively. The total prize fund in Blitz was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹25000, ₹15000 and ₹10000 with a trophy each. This is Aadik's ninth and tenth overall tournament triumph of the year. It is also his first and second individual rating tournament victory of his career.

The reigning Ernakulam District Under-15 and Under-19 Open, Kerala State Under-13 and Under-19 Open champion, won his first and second individual rating tournament of his career at this event. He shared a few words thanking the people who have got him this far in his journey and also shared a few games of his from these two events.

Currently, I am part of Chola Chess Academy, where I am fortunate to receive training given to national top-10 finishers free of cost, from GM R B Ramesh Sir, WGM Aarthie Ramaswamy Ma'am, GM Debashis Das Sir, and GM Sundararajan Kidambi Sir. Finally, I would like to thank my current individual coach, IM Jubin Jimmy Sir from Kerala, who has been guiding me closely. He even supported me during this tournament while playing his own events in Abu Dhabi and Fujairah.

A total of 406 players including an IM took part from all over the country, one from Canada, England, Kenya and South Africa each, and two from the USA. The five-day nine round Rating Open tournament was organized by SRR Charitable Trust at PB Siddhartha College of Arts and Science in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh from 21st to 25th August 2025. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
