4th President Cup Masters 2025 R2: Five draws

The second round of 4th International President Cup 2025 Masters witnessed five draws. Nihal Sarin was up against France no.6, Maxime Lagarde. The game started in the Closed Ruy Lopez. Nihal sacrificed a pawn on the queenside to gain some initiative. However, none to be found. Soon a bunch of pieces got exchanged and the game arrived at an equal rook and minor pieces endgame. Draw became the obvious result. Currently, five players - Shant Sargsyan (ARM), Mukhiddin Madaminov (UZB), Bardiya Daneshvar (IRI), Shamsiddin Vokhidov (UZB) and Nihal are at 1.5/2 each. A relatively calm day

The ten-player nine-round, Round-Robin Super tournament will take place from 4th to 12th December 2025 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Lagarde - Nihal: 0.5-0.5

GM Maxime Lagarde (FRA, 2608) and GM Nihal Sarin (2701) played two Classical rated games against each other before this. Lagarde won one and the second game ended in a draw. This time also the game ended in a draw in a Closed Ruy Lopez battle.
