2nd Indore GM Open 2024 R4: Deepan subdues Savchenko, gains early sole lead

GM Deepan Chakkravarthy defeated GM Boris Savchenko to emerge sole leader 4/4 at 2nd Indore GM Open 2024. Deepan made a sound exchange sacrifice to gain two pawns and open his light square bishop's path. He converted his advantage into a win comfortably. Both GM Alexei Fedorov and IM Ameya Audi had a solitary chance each, to gain decisive advantage against their counterpart. WGM Nandhidhaa P V had a grueling battle against GM Hesham Abdelrahman (EGY). IM P Shyam Nikhil showed fine technique in the opposite color bishop endgame against GM Igor Glek (BEL). Local player, Prakhar Bajaj made the most out of his opportunity against IM Kushagra Mohan. Deepan will face the top seed Iniyan in the fifth round. Today will be the last double round of the event.
