Shaon Chowdhury triumphs at 2nd AGCA Rating Open 2025

Shaon Chowdhury, Garvit Jain, CM Vinod Kumar Sharma, Harish Sharma and Divit Gangwal scored 7/8 each at 2nd AGCA Rating Open 2025. Shaon won the tournament on tie-breaks. The rest were placed second placed second to fifth according to tie-breaks. Shaon, Garvit, Vinod and Divit remained undefeated. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹164000. The top three prizes were ₹25000, ₹20000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each respectively. The four-day eight round Rating Open tournament was organized by All Gwalior Chess Association at Hotel Shubh Mangal Grand in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh from 7th to 10th December 2025. This was Shaon's third rating tournament triumph in 2025.

9-year-old Ansh Kabra, 10-year-old Garvit Jain and Shaon Chowdhury were the three leaders at 6.5/7 each going into the last round. Garvit drew against Shaon, the latter became the champion and the former runner-up. CM Vinod Kumar Sharma defeated Ansh to finish third.

Shaon Chowdhury scored an unbeaten 7/8, won the tournament on tie-breaks and increased his Elo rating by 2.6 points

A total of 312 players took part from various places all over the country. The four-day eight round Rating Open tournament was organized by All Gwalior Chess Association at Hotel Shubh Mangal Grand in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh from 7th to 10th December 2025. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
