Hungary - India: 2-2

Kishan Gangolli (2059) scored the crucial and only victory of the round for India against Balazs Mate (2015). IM Shashikant Kutwal (2182) and Darpan Inani (2016) drew with FM Zoltan Istvan Zambo (2301) and Attila Paal-Szucs (2141) respectively.

Kishan - Balazs

Position after 24.Nxf7!?

Generally in team events, we do not see a lot of bold decisions made quite often on the board. The reason is simple, if a piece sacrifice goes wrong on the board, it might affect the entire team. However, Kishan was confident of 24.Nxf7!? as accepting the sacrifice does no good for Black because White takes the e6-pawn and then plays d5, gets a strong and beautiful pawn chain on the a2-g8 diagonal. Black took the bait 24...Qxf7 25.fxe6 Qh5? 26.Qxh5 Nxh5 27.Bg6 and Black lost further material.

Position after 55...Be6

White is winning here in various ways. Can you find the beautiful finish?

Hungary - India: 2-2
